Trick BX23S Transmission Fan Replacement Kubota How to

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Replacing the propeller shaft fan for the trans in my Kubota bx23s. Got a little carried away brush mowing and caught a stick in the fan. I show where to drill a hole in your fender to save you a ton of time and troubles to make replacing your fan easy!

Tyler: as always straight forward info. I bought the Expanded under armour for my BX23S. My days of turning a wrench are pretty much over. Your hints are always welcome when helping the rest of us out. Take care and stay safe: Petawawa, Ontario.

Great video, I blew out two of those 12 dollar and at a 2 thousand bill for each. The dealer said you have to take out the engine to get to the fan. I thought that was a little strange. Next one I’m going to my friend that a mechanic and show him this video. Thanks for the great ideas. ScottEJ

Holy cow, that is extremely expensive! I'm glad you found this helpful and hopefully it works out well for you as well. I've also been pleased with the bxpanded skid plate which I have a video for to prevent this from happening. I have a number of bx23s videos on my channel if you care to check them out and subscribe! Thanks for the comment, Scott!

I have to admit, I rolled my eyes when I saw you drilling a hole through the fender, I thought for sure there had to be a better way, there isn’t a better way, and after wasting another two hours trying to find out that other way, I ended up drilling a hole through my fender at 2 1/2 inches and it came right off. My only bit of advice that I learned through experience was to completely remove the bolt behind the fan, at first I just loosened it but it would not come off all the way

I was able to get a stubby wrench on the fan bolt, but couldnt get enough leverage on it to remove the bolt... Even if I had; Once the new fan goes in, your back to needing thst top access.... Drilled the hole as well. Good info.

I believe the reason the bolt threads are “stripped” is because the spring in the CV joint is pushing the bolt against the HST input shaft which in-turn flattens the threads. I recently replaced the HST fan on my BX 1850 and no matter what you do, the threads will be flattened on the bolt. Good video - The BX 1850 does not have the two fittings on the front of the propeller shaft and requires the engine to be moved forward about 3 inches to get the clearance necessary to remove the two bolts holding on the HST fan.

I have a 2007 BX2350. Unfortunately the hub off the crank that the drive shaft is bolted is not a removable part as shown in this video. The only way to get the drive shaft out is to unbolt the engine and pull it forward. A major pain in the rear. Total job took about 8 hours. I did take the rear fender and floorboard out as well. It was good opportunity to clean all thee movable parts and lubricate them. still a major ordeal!

I have the same tractor and it took me a while to figure out the difference. It may be that Kubota finally figured out that making the intermediate, removable part would allow the repair without removing the engine - and applied to later models.

I guess I didn't ask to be honest. But I assumed not because it was something I did to make it happen vs a part failing on its own. Now granted I agree with you this should be protected better.

I bought a extra fan , im looking for a aluminum alloy company that can rebuild it with steel or aluminum...2nd time changing it , im over bad designs , ill throw that garbage in the junk and reconfugure a better way to cool off that weak hydro pump , kubota should feel embarrassed that they hired a idiot to put a plastic fan on that ...my bx2380 was 28000 dollars , i feel like i got screwed by kubota's over priced cheap engineered junk , so i bought a new bobcat mt100 mini skid ...there engineers werent much better ...either im really smart or there really stupid , i came up with several better ways to fix and illuminate alot of there weak ass designed things on these machines .. Cut , fabricate , welding required on somethings , hope you dont mind cutting up expensive junk and expermenting
