    Your attention to the little things is a great service to your customers. I remember when we had a '79 Volvo that had a front transmission seal that leaked. They had to remove the engine to get the the $4.00 seal. When finished, I asked them if they replaced the rear transmission seal too while they were at it and they said, "No, didn't think to do that."

    Thanks for all the tips & tricks. Between you and 2jeffs1 and I'm learning something new every day. I've graduated to a used B3350 from a Craftsman garden tractor. The B3350 only has ~53 hours on it but had DPF problems that the dealer and the Kubota rep are still working on [sounds like DPF issues are a common fault]. Hope to have it delivered next week. I hope you realize how lucky you are to share the work with Kathy 8^).

    Hey Paul, I am in the middle of a full service on my bx25, I took the deck off to do the blades and gain access. I am ashamed to say my belly mower underside was in terrible shape, I have neglected it and in turn it was very pitted. Just finished grinding, sanding, priming and painting, probably 12 to 14 hours solid work. Next time your talking about your bx, you may want to mention the belly mower, much easier to prevent than repair. Thanks, James

    Paul, I have watched the video on the fan/seal work on the BX1800. I have a BX1850 and I would like to replace the seal around the trans. spline or the seal around the spline housing--have not determined where the leak is originating from. The BX1800 shaft is different that the 1850--looking at the schematics. Have you any experience with the 1850 shaft. I have been told to remove the floor as you did but not the fenders, etc. They did mention that I might have to remove the break cross rod. I was told that once the forward (trans) end of the coupling was freed, removing the bolts from the motor end, I could drop the motor end down and thus remove the shaft from the trans. Then remove the shaft through the floor opening. Do you have an opinion. Thanks, Eric

    I realize that this video is pretty old now but I wanted to make a comment on the HST fan replacement. I own a 2011 bx25 myself. After about 2 years of running the machine and renting it out I went to do the HST filter and fluid service as well as the other maintenance services when I noticed my Fan blades were all broken. I calle dthe dealer and they said the fan was $11 canadian and that it would take 6-9 hours of labour to replace the fan. They said the tractor had to be split in half and be completely tore apart to replace it. So being a canadian red seal 310s technician I decided to do it myself. After removing the rops and the fender and lots of cursing between, I realized that it was a complete was of time doing all that. I actually put it all back together and removed the driveshaft and fan from under the tractor by unbolting the motor mounts and moving the motor forward just enough to remove the driveshaft from under the tractor without removing much of anything. All in all I had the fan replaced and the tractor back up and running in less than 2 hours including the tear down and re-assembly that wasn't needed. Do this day I don't understand why Kubota hasn't made a more durable fan for the bx tractors.

    All I ever do is let the motor mounts go along with the fan shroud and pull the engine ahead. I did sone shaft repairs on a Kubota BX2200 and never had to touch the motor. There was enough room to pull the complete shaft out. I guess the dealers are trying to make a buck 😳 The fan design is ok. You just need to make a good guard to protect it which I've done and never any fan issues.

    Absolutely invaluable video. It was a life saver, I could never have done this repair without it. Thanks! Couple thoughts: I tried various generic o-rings, metric and standard, and all but the smallest were too thick and made it hard to slide the bearing into the sleeve. The smallest one seemed too small. Maybe using the Kubota ones would be best? They have a thinner profile, and they are a whitish-clear rubber, silicone I guess - maybe more heat resistant? (part K2581-14160 ) Also is it possible the reason the bolt holding the driveshaft to the pump always seems stripped is because the threads get crushed by the groove for them? That's what I observed...so I just bought a new bolt. (part 01123-50830 ) But I have the next series and the design of the pump shaft is a little different. In mine it looks like a groove/indent in the pump shaft keeps the sleeve from sliding back and forth. My tractor seems a bit quieter after replacing the dampers so I'm glad I did that and not just the fan.

    Salmagundiii I always say it's better to use OEM parts. No doubt about it. You may be right on all your comments and I'm sure your tractor will be quieter now. There may be changes in the set up on the latest models. I haven't don't one of them yet. I just wanted to produce this video to get owners familiar with the process.

    Hi Kathy and Paul:-) Paul you surely do like your Princess Auto store don't you?. That looks like a nice gas hedge trimmer that you have there, do you put fuel stabilizer in the gas for your small engines that you run? that ethanol in todays gas is terrible on small engines. Great explanation on the jobs that you were performing on the BX-18 tractor. A-1 rating on you're explanations , you are a first-rate instructor sir. That is a very neat plastic pop rivet tool you have there, i had never seen one before. Love you train of thought on cleaning up the shop and tools and also putting them back in their proper places at the end of the day, a lot easier working in that type of environment, hats off to you and Kathy!!. Wonderful video please keep them coming!! Stay well and safe friends.:-)

    jrob65 Thank you my friend. Looks like I just might pass the grade lol. I like to show any new or unusual tools. If it helps others out then that's simply a Hugh bonus. Yes I use stabilizer in all our fuel tanks. If it's a small engine like a chainsaw, whipper sniper..... I'll just drain them dry and burn off the rest. In the bigger stuff like generators, Miller mobile welding unit I'll add the stabilizer because it may need to be put back in service at any moment. You ask great questions and thanks for that one. I try and keep the shop clean as I can but some days there's so much coming through It's hard but the shop is never dirty longer than a day. I'll have a new BX full service video up before the weekend. Thanks for your support on our channel and the time you take to comment on our videos. God bless.

    Paul Short Paul, I have heard that using Marine grade stabilizer works when using gas that has ethanol in it, I heard it on the Internet, so it must be true. lol. I have noticed that the ethanol in the gas has caused my tractor gas cap vent to plug up twice now. It causes a yellow hard substance to plug up the vent & the tractor engine of course will quit. This video that you did was so in depth, you did a fantastic job at trying to educate people in the proper way of repairs & maintenance. You definitely succeeded in a how to do video Paul. Keep the videoes coming, I will be here as many other will to watch you help us out with your knowledge of mechanical equipment! Kurt

    The dealer should love you for it. They get paid by Kubota for warranty work on new machines. Without defendingcts they would only rely on sales and that in itself isn't enough to keep a dealership healthy.

My local hardware store has items that not everybody sells and i'm on a first name basis and when my wife goes with me she asks me where things are. Anyway thank you for another interesting video!

    +Jake Schisler Man I'll tell ya, Princess Auto is THE store for me. Living on an island really limits my pickings when it comes to project supplies and that's exactly what PA does for me, it fills a gap that no one else on the rock can fill. Glad you got a place like it too my friend.

    I finally got mine tore down today , I would have done it sooner but my Kathy was not in the mood ...I got the fan , going back to dealer for cv boots , orings , bolt ...I also bought a grapple so I gotta add a third member switch ( by the way what was in that kubota box I seen when you were showing off them new tools) ? 😂

    Hst fan lasted 10 months , cv boots are garbage also , im over there junk replacement parts , i took the cutting saw to my new bx2380 , i can do a better rebuild than them idiots at kubota , were pouring a new fan next month ( a little experimenting) im over a plastic fan , im look to hire a company to copy build it in a better material , and i always get what i want , dont care what it takes ..its gonna be pricey though ...i already cut the floor board and built a door that un bolts , i change mine from the top , customized it my way ..you wont know the difference when im done ..i cut it 6 times and put it back together before i finally decide how i wanted to do it , it looked like a puzzle for a minute ...cant even tell now , cutting up that driveshaft next , thats the dumbest designed driveshaft i ever seen , and the frame twists , did you know that ....? Not sure i want make the frame stronger though ..i need it to flex as much as possible to keep wheel contact on uneven ground , which these bx kubota's are terrible for , putting a front end loader on a lawn mower that narrow , ???? Definitely looking at a law suit eventually..ooh wait a minute , maybe not ...you cant sue china ...now why you think all our major manufacturers are moving to third world countries ? Along with epa rules ?????

    I've been waiting for this video to come up. I wish you did video's back when you built/designed that Ice Resurfacer because that would have been a nice video. Do you still drive the pickup truck or not really that much, I would imagine it's not to good on gas. I noticed there is the strobe light on that BX, Did the customer put that on it for his own use or was it on there when he bought it if you know. Just thought that since he is using it on his personal rink it would be interesting to have a strobe on it but hey if it was me I would have more than that one on it.

    Tyler Donovan Oh yes. The pick up is still used. It pulls our welding machine and trailers. The strobe was on the unit when we bought it so we left it there. I'll try and do a video on the machine working this winter.

    Hi Paul,I own a 2014 BX25D and unfortunately I destroyed my HST fan. my question to you is can I follow this same procedure you did on this older Kubota? my local dealer said it would take 14-17 hours???they said they have to separate he front of the tractor from the rear and that doesn't seem logical

  • @7863348

    @7863348

    8 жыл бұрын

    +spsoyden1 They are wrong. Pull up the floor board. Take your front guard off, pull your hood off. Let go of your motor mounts and simply pull the motor ahead about three inches. Now you'll be able to remove the shaft from the tranny and change the fan. Not much to it. I could do two of them in 14 hours and have lots of time left. You should invest in a workshop manual. It will pay for itself on the first job.

    +Paul Thank you for the quick reply...I ordered the service manual today. So for clarity, I do not have to remove the Rops, seat and rear fender body? Just the front clip and floor board?

  • @7863348

    @7863348

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Stephen Soyden I was giving you the condensed version of the job. One cannot remove the floorboard if there are things on top of it such as ROPS and seat. Yes they have to come off as well. I usually don't answer these sort of questions because this isn't what our channel is about. I just felt like you were being taken advantage of in the repair estimate. My advice is to get your repair manual and a belly pan so this don't happen again.
