Love what DS9 did with this episode 19 years later in "Trials and Tribble-ations." Flawless editing combining the two casts, even bringing back Darvin (Charlie Brill) worked. Best moment however is when a disguised Worf, O'Brein, Odo and Bashir arrive on the space station and can't recognize Klingons from that century. When Worf points them out, their look is priceless along with Worf's line, "It's a long story."

It comes down to cost for the production of the television series. This was quite expensive for it's time, and it had excellent storylines up until season 3. You'll never take it but I'll give you some excellent advice anyhow - go look up MindWebs on this platform. Those are radio shows. Very low budget, and quite often, outstanding plots and stories. You miss out on so much when you confine yourself to the time you live in. I am not kidding when I tell you this, plots are made to be forgettable today intentionally so they can get you to buy the next product a decade down the road and not NOT spend money by watching an old television show or movie. It was realized in the early 1990s that stuff had to suck enough so people couldn't enjoy it a decade in the future, because the cost of any film or television show goes down in time, and cost == profit. Entertainment is intentionally made to be crap so you will always want something better and pay for it but there is already 70 years of it before you were born, but you won't access it. I suggest you try.

The feeling's clearly mutual, since the things are basically the ultimate invasive species. They may be cyoot, but those things could probably wipe out an entire ecosphere in a month, considerin how quick they grew on one station.

And they like Denoublians too-despite Dr. Phlox feeding one to a plant (similar to Sulu's Gertrude). I wonder how Cdr. T'Pol would have reacted had she seen Phlox fo that. Hoshi was horrified.

I believe Worf talked about how Tribbles once created an ecological disaster on Qo'noS, so the Klingons were forced to hunt them down and destroy them. If I'm not mistaken, I believe in Klingon Folklore, it was referred to as "The Great Tribble Hunt", although that may have been a reference invented by Odo, to mock the Klingons.
