The best thing about Spock's Brain episode was the view screen shots. It was the first time actual rear projection was used on the main viewing screen allowing the actors to walk in front of it while keeping the star field moving and putting the Sigma Draconas system schematic on so the actors could fully react and relate to it and the moving starfield. Very ambitions for 1968, first episode filmed for the 3rd season. Up until then the moving view screen shots had been added in during post production.

Just one correction - They did walk in front of the view screen in the episode "The Doomsday Machine". In the original version, when they walked in front of it, it was just static stars, a picture. It should have had the planet killer on the screen, but it wasn't. This was fixed in the upgraded CGI effect-version.

I'm picturing someone in the ER totally fed up and irate after four hours of going around and around with doctors and nurses: "Alright, FINE, I'll tell you! We just didn't know how to approach it and we wanted to spare you the shock. The accident was worse than you know; you're literally just a brain on a gurney. We've been passing the time while trying to find a donor body by using you to play Hero Wars! Also, you gave the AC system a boost none of us have seen here in years. It's been quite nice actually."

What do they want with Spock's brain? What use is it? So classic.

"In search of his brain, Doctor!" Spock's Brain is one of the best TOS epis and hasn't lost one bit of its charm and humor. Added bonus: Makes for a great drinking game. Thanks for this dope compilation, E Quasi Millione.

Well -- in fairness to the writers of such a laughably poor episode : presumably Kara had absorbed all of the Controller's accumulated knowledge, just prior to boarding the Enterprise. Which was retained long enough for her to return to the planet and connect Spock's brain to the entire neural network (or what have you). That knowledge would have then "faded" -- just as it did in McCoy's case. And yes - I know that it's undoubtedly a fool's errand to try to over-analyze an episode which contains plot-holes large enough to accommodate an entire fleet of aircraft carriers. 😌😉

One of my favorite lines in all of Star Trek.

My friend and I used to do 'Spock's Brain' at the bar, I'd ostentatiously press the back of my phone and he'd walk jerkily to get new drinks. We were easily amused in those days.

'Plato's Stepchildren' was a big long torture sequence from beginning to end. It could have been a good episode, but it ended up being just incredibly uncomfortable to watch. The trailer alone *freaked me out* as a kid.

It was like an Adam West Batman episode. Spock's brain was ripped out of his head by women in gogo boots. They were stupid unless a computer made them smart. Then McCoy wears the "computer helmet" and puts the brain back. Of course, a child could do it! Then McCoy starts forgetting his brain reconnecting skills so disembodied Spock helps him complete it. It's a hilariously stoopid episode but ridiculously funny. As far as goofiest OG star trek eps, it's up there with "Way to Eden". Nothing beats Way to Eden.

It was. However, the new producer Fred Freiberger didn't understand the script and the fact that it was supposed to be a comedy like several other episodes, so it got shot as a serious episode.

You forgot one, when the Alien female says : "Brain, is controller?"

It was a sad start for their last season. But the one good part was after Spock got up from his brain surgery. He was running off at the mouth and McCoy stepped in and said , I knew it was a mistake. I shouldn't have reconnected his mouth.🖖😇 Maybe she met the bonk bonk on the head kid . ( MIRI )

Honestly its one of the more preposterous episodes but when I was 10 years old I loved it !!

Now you put that brain back right now!

Spock could've gotten a new brain from one of the show's writers. That way he could be sure he was getting one that had never been used.
