DHAKA, BANGLADESH - Bangladesh is home to a diversity of amazing people including the Chakma people who are from the Chittagong Hill Tracts in southeastern Bangladesh. Today we have the special opportunity to to eat at a Chakma food restaurant right within Dhaka!
Hebaang Restaurant (g.page/hebaang?share) - Hebaang invited us for an authentic Chakma tribal meal. They bring many of their ingredients from their village in the mountains near Chittagong. Tonight the menu was huge, so many different dishes and an incredible variety. I was pleasantly surprised by their use of shrimp paste in many dishes and their use of green chilies and plenty of fresh herbs.
Along with the many other dishes, one of the main dishes they made was a village chicken, mixed with spices and herbs and green chilies, then stuffed into a long bamboo pole and roasted over the fire.
The food was delicious and the hospitality and company was spectacular. Next trip to Bangladesh I really hope to visit some of the villages and tribes in the Chittagong Hills to learn about more of their amazing food culture.

Bangladeshi food is one of the best and most popular globally ... i have tried many indian subcontinent foods from india, nepal, pakistan. But trust me bangladesh got the most unique and spiciest food which is absolute mouth watering after u see them... There are lots of bangladeshi restaurants available in different country.. as well as in my country (russia) too... love my bangladeshi people, the most generous and kind hearted people 🇧🇩🇷🇺❤❤

Looks very fascinating. I'll be visiting this restaurant soon. As far as i can remember, a decade or two ago, Chakma people were considered second class citizens and ordinary bangal people were somewhat racist towards them. Things have changed a lot over the years. Kudos to you people and your culture.

@Hafijur Rahman the beauty of Bangladesh lies in it's village , nobody is interested in your cities ( because cities and City Life is almost same throughout the world) . So , promote your villages , it's culture , cuisine , life style . And yes Bangladesh is very dirty and overpopulation is a big problem in Dhaka , you should focus on improving that . The media is there to show you where you need to improve , if they start to show those things you mentioned (only that side which looks good), it will not take much time for your media to be corrupt like most Indian big media houses.

During the partition of the subcontinent in 1947, the British betrayed the Chakma people. The two conditions for the division of the subcontinent on the basis of biracialism were: Pakistan would be made up of Muslim-majority areas and India would be made up of non-Muslim-majority areas. But even after the Chakma community settled in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, the Buddhists, that is, non-Muslims, the British made it part of East Pakistan. According to the basic condition of two nation theory, it was due to India. The people of the Chakma tribe have been wronged. From the time of Ziaur Rahman's government in 1970, Bengali Muslims were being allowed to live in the Chittagong Hill Tracts from other places. As a result, the people of this Chakma community will soon become a minority in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

You should understand that it's their(chakma people's) restaurant. No one can describe the food better than them. Plus, to be honest as Bengalis, we know less about Chakma tradition and their foods(not as much as we should know). As clearly shown in the video Rasif also doesn't know about different things of their foods. So, I think he did the right thing by not describing the foods.
