My son just moved out of state to chase his own path in life. He sent this song to me today and I cursed him for making this grown man cry. I’m also my daddy’s son, so I felt it twice. Good job man. Keep writing!

This is coming from a mom.. I’m always apologizing for what my hubby and I didn’t do rite. He tells me mom .. if it wasn’t for your and dads rules. I wouldn’t be the man I am now..He’s 34 with 2 boys of his own now. He is a police officer of 10 yrs now. I tell my husband all the time. If we did anything rite as young kids who made a child. Was raise him to be a awesome man. God bless all the dads. I miss mine so badly. ✨✌️💜🎶

I'm talking to the parents here. Always make sure to tell your children your love and how proud you are. Even if they're not what we expected them to be. I lost my son. He was on his way to my home. He got off the city bus. To cross the street. I must a truck a pickup truck. My baby lay there on the road by Himself he died at 11:57 PM. He didn't have no ID on. Him He had lost it a couple days before. But that night I felt something within me I remember saying God. Please protect Jesse Keep him safe. I went to sleep. I get a knock at the door that morning. Ask me If I knew a Jesse Erwin I said yes, he's my son,, is everything okay? There's been an accident.. I said where he told me. I said what hospital is he at so I could get there? He said I'm sorry to tell you, but your son didn't make it..My world stopped It was. like an echo coming out of the man's voice. Please always tell your children you love them. and that you forgive them? For anything that your child may have done or you have done please .You may not know when it will be your last God bless you

@@thatreadboy I'm not one to give advice, but just be a brother not a father... Assure you it's difficult for even us seasoned dad's to walk the line of trying to be their friend AND parent... Just be his big brother and an ear to listen when he wants to talk, siblings have to be there for each other long after mom and dad have left this world. Nurture that relationship, I wouldn't advise taking on a fatherly role as it may just make him resentful and push you away. God Bless you and KNOW that the BOND between father and son has ZERO limitations even in death

😭 I came across this song and it so describes my Son. When he was growing up on this old farm he would often butt heads with his Dad, chores, rules, etc. My husband taught him to work hard, even if it caused them to argue, fuss and fight over who was wrong and who was right. There came a time when despite the love, he went his own way, and sadly stayed away. October 3, 2014 My husband passed away, and before he took his last breath he said, "I've made peace with him Momma, I Pray he comes home to you someday". 😭 That Day came 4 months ago and it is amazing to see the difference in him. HE IS HIS DADS SON!! He is back on the farm, taking care of things here, owns his own business, cares for his children despite opposition from 2 failed marriages, and I know his Dad is looking down from Heaven proud that he came home to the family that never stopped loving him and Praying for him. I'm not well and he makes sure I am cared for, because he is his DADS SON 💙

And I honestly look and act just like him but I’m trying to build a relationship with him. I just wish that someone would pray for me and him and our relationship. Thank You Everyone🙏🏻

This song really hits home. I Lost my Dad in 2012 when I was 25. It’s been a rough ride trying to piece it all together on my own and find my way through life. Watching him take his last breath is something I’ll always remember. Not because I want to remember his passing, but rather to remember how in that exact moment I realized how much I really loved my dad. I’m 37 now and living life to its fullest raising my son and loving every moment of it. I think about how much my Dad would’ve loved him and how proud he would’ve been. If you’re reading this Dad, I love you. I miss you and I hope I make you proud.

Man you told your story, which is my story. First two times I heard this song I had to stop working. I'm a carpenter. I had a son at 21 raised him on my own he is one of the best men men I've ever known. First man to have a college degree but still he chose to be a carpenter. He's a god fearing man and so is his young wife both 23 years old. I sent this to him and it took 2 hours his dog and two beers to call me. And he was still a mess like me. You hit a couple of country boys in the heart. Man.. God bless you and your daddy brother And Momma!

I'm 62 and still remember good times with my dad. Then life got busy and the next thing you know, it's been 6 months since we talked and then a year. At 59, l made a choice to call him every Saturday morning at 8am. He is getting older, losing his eye sight and hearing. Memory is not as good for either of us. I really wish I had started calling him sooner but am glad that I still have time. I appreciate the song. Oh and did I mention, my son sent this to me! 😊

I just found this checking out some new artists. Pops went to heaven in ‘09. We were just alike. I spent all the time I could with my Dad especially hunting. He was himself away from business and his wife. I see so much him in what I say. When I pull a fun night. I’m 51 and I still cry like a baby. I have his two felt resistal hats. I put them in the truck at the beginning of deer season. Young man, thank you for this song. It meant so much to me to hear this today. I can’t thank you enough.

That’s a well written song, there’s a billion men out there and they all started as the daddy’s son. I love how there’s a movement of young people in country music that are going back to good country music and a lot of them are singing song they wrote. I had to stop listening to the Florida Georgia line crap and the rapping country about beaches. The waymore blues by Waylon is true country and this song does it justice.

Hey man. I know you probably don’t read these at all. But I lost my father three days after Christmas this past year due too COVID and as I laid down for bed tonight I came across this song and it so much more than a song too me. This brought back all kinds of memories of me and my dad that I’d pushed away. Keep living your dream man. Trust me you are moving people and making great music throughout it. Good luck and god bless you brother.

You are just repeating a slogan that you learned from tv. There is literally no science to that "protection ". In Canada the masks are forced upon people, just like the jabs. The numbers are the highest in the jabbed and they admitted that those masks don't give any protection.

Been 7 years for me. It took me about 3 years before I started feeling better. But now I realize that you’re not truly your own man until you process your daddy’s death and move on to be a father yourself. My boy is 2 now, so I think about the future a whole lot more than the past. Good luck to you sir.

Lost my Dad 12 years ago and I have two sons (20 and 18). This song says it all. The chorus line "It is in my blood.... find the underdog and make him strong so he can be alright, walk straight to it gets late..if you looking to where I get it from I am my Daddy's son" says it all. I chose different path than my Dad and my boys have chosen different paths too but the moral courage and strength runs thick from my Dad all the way to my boys.... I am so proud of my Boys --- Nicholas (named after my Dad) and Micheal (the Angel and defender)
