Children are not born to hate. They are taught the hateful ways of their parents and their parents' parents' and so on and so on. We must be the ones to break the generational chain of racism. You mean more intelligent than so.e of most adults today.
You can usually tell when a child is surrounded by a good support system. Good for him.
The best explanation I ever heard! The kid is just as smart as his elder brother Trevor!
This reminds me of one of the very best days in my 43 years of teaching children ages 5 -7 years old. I was reading a picture book about Martin Luther King Jr. to my Kindergarten class. There was an illustration of 2 water fountains, one labeled black and one labeled white. I saw one of my students studying his arm and frowning. Suddenly his hand shot up in the air waving madly. I paused, nodded to my student, and waited for his response. It went like this! “But Mrs. C we are not black or white!” I agreed, but before I attempted to explain the signs, I asked my student what he thought we were. He studied his arm intently for about 30 seconds more and responded with; “I think we are all just different shades of brown.” His fellow classmates and I all agreed with his wisdom. Every year after that and every opportunity I get I retell this story and I end the retelling with this. “I get my best ideas from kids!”

Guindo, The not really... if you’re Asian then you’re Asian.. it’s a fact.. calling you African won’t make you black. The word used to describe race may be a social construct but the fact is that people of different races have different features. We’re still the same species but we’re just different races. A pit bull and a bull dog are different races of dog but are essentially still dogs! They have differing features but are still the same species. How would you describe the people of Africa without referring to their biological features and then grouping them as “Africans”? Yes, the word “African” is a social construct but it’s based off a biological construct so it’s concrete.

Because they are divorced, my granddaughter has never seen the black fathers of two or three of her cousins, who of course are black, among other white cousins. Consequently when a white aunt gave birth, she asked "Oh goody! What color is it?", as if, like doggies, we could have 'puppies' of any color ! "THE BEST AND SIMPLEST" explanation of how to define secularism and how to keep your thoughts so beautifully straight forward.
I like that he looked to "the left" when remembering talking to his brother in the car.

I love this! I got that kind of crap growing up because my older brother's half black. Some people were stubborn in their belief that he had to have been adopted. Shit ain't that hard: same mom, different dad. Not that difficult to imagine people

My older sister's black and I'm half black we had to deal with people thinking one of us was adopted all the time. One time when I was on a softball team and someone started asking questions after seeing my sister a friend jumped in with a similar explanation as Trevor's brother saying it's like mixing coffee and cream, some mixes have more coffee and others more cream. It blew my mind and I reused it for several years.

I'm white and do are my siblings, but I've got nothing but half siblings and they have half siblings, and we're all vastly different ages. I have lost track of the number of times I've had to explain my convoluted family tree to people.

I picked up my little nephew at school and one kid yelled out, “I didn’t know Ronan’s mom is Chinese:”. I am a quarter French-Moroccan, Vietnamese, Chinese and Cambodian. My sister is married to a white guy. Ronan, my nephew yelled back, “How come you don’t know Chinese food?”

Beautiful quote man!!! am a big fan of your work
Brilliant analogy! I love it when he talks about his family.
His explanation would help some adults Understand race also. Many adults are need this explanation. Some Children would make Amazing Leaders because they think correctly before programming.

I don't think it's the fact they 'think correctly" and more due to the fact hat kids simply don't think about certain things at all. And then there is of course the fact that they aren't loaded with prejudice or often times not socialized horribly wrong yet. Considering Trevors father is a white man, i'd say it's safe to assume that race, at least in their core family, was never that big of a deal. And kids take that in and adopt it into their world view. That why having the right family around them is so important for kids.

@@shadowcat1606 The fact of over thinking is the problem. Some children have the ability to not over think, judge, and over analyze things. This is the correct and intuitive way to think. When adults become more intuitive and less egoic brain, they will think correctly like many children. When a thinker is intuitive, he or she is connected to the creator of all. This is where the pure unjudgemental thoughts lie. "a little child shall lead them...", "And said, Truly I say to you, Except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven..." Not all children have this gift. Some do. Please do not attempt to group all children together. I am referring to a specific type of child. I know many children with intuitive brilliance and truth when speaking and purity in my family and that of friends. Trevor's example is just a small sample of how children think. I have witnessed examples that may be considered more profound whereby adults would have to reexamine their thoughts and beliefs.
"It's all Nestle!" 😂😂😂Seems the kids are smarter than some adults
