I was born/raised in Africa, I completely relate to Trevor’s fear of snakes (I had 2 encounters with green mamba and black mamba before I was 6 y.o…I saw a python so large it’s head and tail were obscured as it slithered into the long grasses surrounding the road it was traversing. Goats disappeared from the village where it was seen). So when he told this story, I knew I would have been waiting on the tour bus before the 1st snake basket came on stage. Mon Dieu, he nailed the Frenchman’s arrogance about the “snakey”! Many people act that way until they appreciate the real thing. I FEAR AND RESPECT SNAKES. And I adore Trevor Noah’s spot on humour!!!
@jasperdraca
Oof. When I lived in Southern California, I had some encounters with some pretty big rattlesnakes. I will never forget them. I'm okay with constrictor snakes as long as they've smaller than me, but venomous snakes need a barrier before I'm willing to get close.

Oprah Williams I’m not sure if you’re from the US but we owe part our independence to France, I’m not sure if we’d of won the revolution w/o their help. Facts aside, bc in the last 150 yrs when our parents/grandparents/great grandparents etc were alive, they’ve lost their wars. I thought the joke was great. It doesn’t have to be 💯 accurate for me to laugh though. I’m not pedantic over jokes.
What is so amazing in his skills that his sense of humor is international. I am Turkish and I follow american standups sometimes and I laugh Trevor as much as I laugh my native Turkish comedians• Because his stories and jokes are beyond american culture. His sense of humor is almost universal.

I almost peed laughing! This happened to me in an old theme park in Florida called the Serpentarium. The owner was this guy who had allowed himself to be bitten by several poisonous snakes and was supposedly immune to snakebites. They had a similar show to what Trevor described. I was about 9 and was standing too close when a Cobra got loose. I was not afraid, I was just fascinated with this magnificent creature that obviously saw my chubby ass and thought, "dinner!" Because it came straight at me. I just remember my dad pulled me back by my shirt collar. He actually lifted me out of the way as the snake strikes in my direction. As Trevor was explaining what the dad was thinking, I don't have to wonder because my dad actually said those words to me! "Stupid idiot. Don't you know better than to stay with a snake?" As an Australian living in the bush this response is actually really normal to be afraid of snakes.. but also we do teach about how to safely interact with them in the bush. Eg leave them alone and always check your shoes in winter if you leave them outside.
