It’s always a conspiracy! It’s not that he has open allegations and pending lawsuits, or can’t keep his dang mouth shut, or makes the teams he plays for have to deal with his antics. People have completely forgotten this. That was what this blacklisting was always about from the start. Bauer was the main driving force behind highlighting the sticky stuff controversy. Pissed off the league, players association, and likely a lot of other pitchers. Also can't forget that Bauer and Gerrit Cole absolutely hate each other, and Cole is a major voice in the players' union. The fact the girl was a Padres groupie and was with Tatis previously makes me wonder if she was potentially a honey pot. Bauer upset a lot of powerful people, which is why he won't be in the league.

I think it's less the MLB canceling him and more the team owners and players saying he's not worth the negative fallout or bad reputation he brings. I mean, if the Oakland A's didn't pick him up when he was super-cheap (pre-Japan), no team is going to want to risk it. It hurts team promotional deals, marketing, branding, community reputation, etc. For instance, the Dodgers would never re-sign him, especially now that they have Ohtani, simply because Ohtani's people wouldn't want him answering questions about Bauer as they'd fear it might impact on Ohtani's reputation and earnings. So yeah, Bauer's probably done in the MLB, but it's coming more from the team management and player leadership groups worried about protecting their own investments than anything else. Bauer will never throw another pitch in MLB.

This really makes me hate MLB and how the whole system is run. It’s so hypocritical, we have players on the field like Ozuna and Chapman getting opportunities and being paid millions but this guy who just wants league minimum cant be giving another opportunity after being proven innocent. It’s just pathetic and a huge joke.

I wish stl would sign him. Everyone nows our rotation isn't good enough. Any potential problems he has, you're putting him in a rotation with sonny, lance Lynn, miles mikolas. Those guys will keep him in line. Vocal guys that don't put up with bullshit and push everyone to be better. If Trevor started to even resemble a problem there are 5 to 7 guys that would "bully" him into being better.

The Astros need to pick this dude up. They are already the villains. Embrace the roll to the fullest.

If they are adding Baur I would say add Osuna as well. Only 29 at the start of the season and since 2021 he has thrown a minimum of 45+ innings. A bullpen of Osuna, Abreu, Pressly, and Hader. Then throw in a rotation of Verlander, Baur, Valdez, and Javier. Yea I would be VERY HAPPY with that.

It shows that none of the 30 teams are committed to winning. A #1 or #2 starter for league minimum? That's a no brainer.

Lots of "Bad Boys" - Bauer, Clevenger, Anderson, Puig - I agree with 2nd chances, with a short leash and incentive-based, "immediate cut" contracts & no media contact allowed.

I hope Bauer gets a second chance but I'm not sure it'll come. Above the PR that would come I think what hurts him the most is his first impression. While he was good there were also stories of how clubhouses didn't really like him and some of his antics. I'm sure he's matured but I feel the old memory makes teams not want to even try to see if the well is still good.

True. Our rotation isn't good enough at all. And adding a cy young winner at league min to push out matz or Gibson would be enough to have confidence in the pitching staff. Grey, Bauer, mikolas, lynn, matz/Gibson is very least nlcs caliber. Dodgers are dodgers this year so that's hard to compare to for anyone. Over a billion dollar rotation

What did they do to him? Suspend him under the policy the MLBPA agreed to, and let him appeal it? The MLBPA has filed no grievance on Bauer’s behalf and until they do, it ain’t a conspiracy. The fact is no owner has signed him. I can think of many reasons why. Pending lawsuits and outstanding allegations, patterns of behavior that he has shown zero remorse for. I get that he’s the patron saint of internet trolls, but in the real world that kind of behavior isn’t rewarded.

4:45 Trevor says it very clearly right here. He expects a team to work with him on an incentive laden deal that would pay him top dollar if he is a top performer. Not many teams are looking to pay that much money even for a top performer. He will most likely need to take a deal for the minimum and no incentives. If anyone needs pitching...and a reason to sign a pitcher...give the guy 500K per win, 10k per strikeout, and put him out there! Like he said, if he screws up, cut him or send him down. The Pirates sign players with awful pasts who remain actual bad people. They sign any former star who had steroid problems, and signed Chapman who has baggage and isn’t even good anymore. Bauer wouldn’t help them in the long run as the team is truly a perpetually disgraceful embarrassment, but i’d get to see him pitch up close, so i’d love it if they did because this guy is a master of the art. He’s clearly an awesome guy too!

Yamamoto, Buehler, Glasnow, Miller, Kershaw and Bauer would be a pretty dam good starting line up. Dodgers have already spent billions, why not give him another chance. The backlash will be tiny compared to the Ohtani and Yamamoto signings craze. Like he said it’s low risk high reward. Especially by getting Bauer on a super cheap incentives based contract.

He was the 3rd starter, the 3rd arm for the BayStars, and put up pedestrian numbers while playing, there were people that also got injured before him and had better cumulative numbers, just to put it in context, and no, 2 monthly "MVPs" don't really mean anything, there's terrible players with multiple of those in the history of NPB. Then again, ask yourself, would any MLB team really want any player like that? SPECIALLY if you take into consideration the terrible PR that comes with him. Yeah, I doubt it.

Well said, you can tell who punches a timecard based on the comments here. No owner or leader would risk signing Bauer, terrible for business.

I'd sign him in a second for a league minimum deal. As a Yankees fan, I'd love to push Nestor or Clarke into the LRP/ swingman starter role and have Bauers taking Luke Weaver's spot as the 26th man (by pay) on the roster. That would be such an incredible add. I think he'd end up getting paid more because I believe he'd perform. But there is no risk there, if he has another case that gets further along and becomes a distraction, you can just cut him for nothing, and he still has a high ceiling. I just can't understand why a team wouldn't take this shot.

I think he'd be a perfect match for the Yankees since they consistently overpay for pitching/batting and end up disappointed. If Bauer could make those fans happy with a good performance, he could make it anywhere! Give him a shot! The Yankees definitely have nothing to lose. I'd like to be a Yankee fan again. Unfortunately, they suck! Bauer could help turn that around with a performance-based contract. Make all the players earn their keep with a performance-based contract!

How can there be 30 foolish owners, GM’s, etc. A Cy Young award winner who has apologized for his mistakes and is willing to work for base pay + Incentives to perform. As a Yankee fan, we gave Daryl Strawberry multiple chances and we fans embraced him each time, Doc Gooden, Billy Martin, A-Roid, etc all got second chances. Having Bauer as a starter would be a great buffer for Carlos Rodon. Bauer should go to the teams that have no pitching and be a walk-on for a chance to make his mark. The PR would last about a week.

Angels and padres would definitely benefit from someone like bauer. Angels need an ace right now and for someone to lead the staff. Padres could use a solid starter to reinforce their rotation. I cant think of 1 team that wouldn't significantly regret signing him for league minimum

As a dodger fan who was originally hyped for him to join the dodgers, I get why teams wouldn’t take a chance with him. He’s no doubt a really good pitcher but if he gets cut, teams would have sacrificed a spot of their roster for him. Tough situation for him

Know what happens if a team signs him? NOTHING. It's like these teams think millions of teal-haired feminists who don't shave will riot at the stadiums.

MLB should be ashamed of themselves. This isn’t about some random chick it’s about the league punishing a guy who calls people out for doing something wrong.

I think the Braves should give him a chance. Because is a great arm talent and the Braves have a culture of respect and public image and they could keep him on the straight and narrow and he will give them more depth especially in the playoffs

People have a short memory. Teams like the Yankees will need pitching should go after him and sign him to a one year deal at a very reasonable price. All teams would be foolish not to take a shot with him

Well be prepared to call every team foolish cause MLB will never sign him again. Players hate him just cause they don't like his personality, the league officials hate him for heavily promoting the sticky stuff issue. He'll essentially be the Colin Kaepernick of the MLB, a player that isn't officially banned by the books and is good enough that they should be on a team, but will never be signed again due to issues the league has with them that don't even have to do with playing.

Right now, the only way (that I can think of) Bauer will sign with a team is if a former teammate vouches for him. Lindor and Mookie have both expressed that they like the guy (although for the latter, I don’t think the Dodgers would be convinced, even if it came from a star player).

I wish the Dodgers would give him a chance. He shouldn't be too expensive and they would have a very deep rotation and I think the fans would love the move.

Just give the man a chance, he was proven innocent. Not to mention the girl was legitimately trying to cash in and get money out of him based off the leaked messages.

I’m puzzled how in the MLB this guy is a FA while we get pitchers from Japan getting paid all kinds of crazy money that never pitched in the majors.

This would be perfect for Tampa Bay. Everyone already thinks we're the villains because if Wander Franco, so why not embrace it and sign Trevor Bauer for league minimum? A pitcher with that much potential upside for that little money would be a great value signing that we tend to do in our organization. Please make this happen. We need depth with 3 of our starting pitchers recovering from elbow surgery right now.

A team that hit's the playoffs running usually gels around August and can really go all the way. Teams that have guys like Bauer, Machado, Bonds along with others, never really get that gel. No doubt in my mind MLB is keeping him out. They are after him for calling out the sticky stuff, which he made the game better and honest. The MLB wanted more offensive to improve the fans experience, well Bauer did that by calling out the cheating.

He was using sticky stuff too. He was pointing fingers at other pitchers like if he was clean. Then they came hard on every pitcher. If he truly wanted to take away cheating then why was he using the sticky stuff through the years?

Considering he hasn't had any offers from any teams, there is a good case here for collusion. Seriously, so many other players who have been found guilty of crimes are still playing and yet I have a feeling that because Bauer found ways and then showed how pitchers were cheating made Manfred angry that he now has a vendetta against Bauer. As a Jay fan, I would love for them to sign him and get at least a year out of him. I think he would easily eat up 200 + innings. Which is normally difficult for pitchers in today's environment

this is a barry bonds situation, bonds gets the record then no one signs him the year later.
