I was an avid tanner in the 90s all year around. I suffered a skin cancer removed and major skin damage. This was at 25 i stopped all sun, became bestfriends with sunscreen and got on tretinoin. Now im 40 yrs old. Ive been on tret continuously for 15 yrs no breaks. I have thick, plump, even toned wrinkle free skin. I get compliments all the time on my skin and not looking my age. I tribute it all to tret. I will use it until my last days, maybe throw a tube in my casket for the afterlife. Thats how much i love it.

It took me over 6 months to start seeing a difference in my skin using tretinoin. I’ve been using it for a little over one year now & my skin is in the best shape it’s ever been in. In fact, I just got a new prescription for a stronger dose & I’m going through the peeling stages again. I call it having dandruff on my face because it’s constantly shedding. I know this shedding will only last a couple weeks, at tops, so I’m OK with it. Please don’t throw in the towel too soon. It really does take quite a while before you see results.

Right. There's always a couple "experts" that try to make a name for themselves by intentionally spreading misinformation, usually along the lines of "I discovered secret information the medical community is hiding from you!" No doubt he probably has a product of his own that's miraculously a "cure" for the particular ailment he claims to be an expert on. Or selling a book, podcast, something. There's usually always a financial motive for this behavior. We always have to be sure to look into these sorts of things on our own, too. Never take bold claims at face value. I appreciate you, too, Dr. Dray!

So many women probably quit using Tretinoin because of that video and purchased his crappy product instead. Ugh, it angers me!
I started following you fairly recently and have been so impressed with you. What I absolutely love about what you share is your calm, to the point and clear breakdown of the science of how skin works, how it behaves and how the chemistry works. That you back up your statements with stable data, scientific studies and professional experience. This video is exceptional in that you lay out how to listen to alarmist drivel and pick it apart with stable scientific data. @rachelh9550 putting on moisture before can help. I use aquaphor on top at night, but this seems to help some people and irritate others. I've had success with snail mucin, centella asiatica, and hyaluronic acid serums, too. A daytime moisturizer with urea could also help. The one from Eucerin is nice and pretty inexpensive. THANK YOU so much for your knowledgeable responses. It always amazes me how people misrepresent studies/research. I have been on Retin A for 30 years and plan to stay on it forever. Retin A and sunscreen are my staples. I love listening to you. Keep up the great work.
Thank you Dr. dray, for the update and thorough explanation.
I started with Tretinoin a few years ago using 0.05%. Prior to that, I used retinol creams. I now juggle between both types. I’ve never had a side effect, except maybe for some slight dryness or flaky skin. Sometimes I’ll use a very light serum or moisturizer under the Tretinoin if I’m feeling sensitive. I also don’t use it every day and alternate with things like Vitamin C or Glycolic acid. It has always seemed safe and effective to me. Thanks for this video.
Thank you for this! I feel like I knew most of what you were saying about the mechanism of action (from reading insert, chatting with my dermatologist, and watching your videos), but I definitely gained a deeper understanding from your explanations. I support the title Queen of Dermatology ♥️
Thank you for reviewing this interview. It helps to understand the information correctly.

Thank goodness we have you to be a voice of reason with backup evidence in studies.
You are pretty much one of THE only KZreadrs I feel I can probably TRUST. Ty!
Thank you for this. I’m so glad that this misinformation hasn’t been left to go unchecked. Clear and scientific response as always.👏
So happy to have you on youtube Dr Dray ❤️

Thank you so much for going over this ❤. I watched their video earlier and I was getting worried
Dr Dray, I just want to give a HUGE thank you for your input here... When I watched this, I was thinking of you the whole time, so thank you for being the sane voice once again. I started watching your videos about 5 years ago and you SAVED my skin from so so so so much. If it could speak it would thank you, for it was blind, and because of you, it can now see. Anyway... I wish you continued, resilience, continued growth and transparency. AND, remember to sunscreen and keep being your beautiful self no matter what.
This video truly solidified why you are brilliant - a true critical thinker, and a fine scholar. Thank you for you brilliance, Dr Dray.
You are like a boon...you have played and important role in easing my struggle with cystic acne and yet again I was looking for clarity regarding this particular claim and here you are with your view on it. I trust you 🤗

I love your courage! Very few people would stand up to someone and reject their claims that may be false…we are so lucky to have you!!!xoxoxo
I’m so glad u are out here doing this work. Thank u so much dr
my report is purely anecdotal but in the 2 yrs i’ve been using tretinoin, my face skin feels very robust, plump, healthy and the tone much more even than before i started. i say this, however, in relation to the COMPREHENSIVE skin care routine i have been following, which includes hyaluronic acid, ceramides, anti oxidant ingredients and of course consistent SPF. thanks so much for your input Dr. Dray, i definitely trust your word on all things skincare. happy thursday 🌸

Hi I actually follow the honest channel and watched that video, afterwards I went straight to your videos regarding tretinoan and after listening to you I continued to use my tretinoan, iv seen such good results there's no way I'm stopping it. Thank you for giving us your professional opinion xxx
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and making these studies accessible to us. Debunking the "fakes" must be exhausting with time, but it really helps ! Again thank you for sorting out all those infos in every video !
Really appreciate your response video, thanks. I found their claims very concerning so it's comforting to hear your reasoned, professional POV.
The queen has spoken! With data-backed info & common sense as always. Thank you for your continued work in the space, Andrea!
Love your service to the skincare community. Thank you!!! 🙏 I have been using tret since I found your channel 3 years ago. I am happily growing wiser with the help of tret and your other recommendations.
this is why we love you Dr Dray!!
I love u. Thank u for being such a big presence on youtube and a voice of reason- a true scientist. You understand dermatology better than most I have listened to on youtube and at md offices. . Thank you for calling out the quacks.
You go girl ! Dr Dray thank you for using your intelligence in this way .🥰
Dr. Dray - you are comedic gold without even trying to be!!! I love your analysis of the information and studies to explain the usage - it is unethical to misuse information, especially as it is related to a topic that many are very sensitive about ... at the end of the day, let the buyer beware in all aspects if life.
I had that video on my watch later list, but so glad I watched yours first. Was able to get the information from that video, but with your clarifications.
Thank you for this comprehensive response. 🙏
Dr. Dray bringing the FACTS. Thank you for this informative video and breaking everything down for us. I've been using tret for the last year and it has completely changed my skin from acne prone to dewy and fresh. I'm a tret lifer :)
You go girl !! This is why I love and follow your channel !

thank you, Dr. Dray for being clear and making the science easily understood.
so glad you've done this!! you are my go to expert!!
Thank you Dr. Dray for always taking the time to explain/clarify the endless information (or misinformation) out there! My daughter and I love you and are starting to feel like "skin experts"!! 💞
Yes, I saw that. He is selling a cream and wants the millions of tretinoin users to switch to his product. Even so, I did see the video a couple of weeks ago and was a little unsettled by it. Thank you so much for your reassuring response. I have followed you for several years and trust you to present good, relevant studies to fully back what you say. Love you Dr Dray xx

I was considering buying his cream but his claims seem so far fetched that it restores fat
@Klute1977

I think his product looks interesting and would try it but his marketing is shady. Surely if the product is as good as he claims results would speak for themselves and there'd be no need to run down other products.

Actually the effect of his cream has NOTHING to do with the effect of retinol. His cream promises restoring fat underneath skin while retinoides trreat wrinkles, acne and skin resistence. So it doesn't make much sense to say his rosting retinoides to promotd his stuff, they could perfectly be used together.
@stefanisilva2493

@Valeria Gopaul Exactly. People don't even think about how the diligent sunscreen use and sun avoidence necessary to use retinoides may be a fsctor involved in the reported anti aging effects.

I’ve been using the cream since September. I love it, it’s improved the fat loss around my mouth. Didn’t do much for the eye area but nasal labial folds, marionette lines greatly reduced and lips a lot plumper, especially the top border.
Thank you Dr Dray for explains and informing us!
And this is why I love Dr.Dray. She knows what she's talking about. She always supports her words with studies and evidence, articles etc.
