The outlet was super fun. It was non stop action there. I left out the vast majority of film from there. We landed a ridiculous amount of fish at that spot

Wow. What a hike. Sorry for D’s fall and the number of river crossings.... gorgeous lakes. Looked like a lot of fun despite bad “shortcut”... super fun

We were just in Wyoming and we’re getting crazy hits from Golden Trout with a lemon lime balanced leech. It was amazing!

Another amazing video adventure - thank you so much. P.S. "Off-the-trail" shortcuts and bushwhacking, IMO, rarely save time and are usually a big pain the "youknowwhat"!

Thats true, but in the end I was leaning toward the bushwhack on this particular trip as the better option --hindsight. The trail added about 2 1/2 miles more and added a lot of up.

Oh yeah, I love it up there---sooo pretty. Hopefully parts two and three are ok--- It's just mostly fishing for the next two parts

It was indeed a lot of work--but it was worth it. We had a blast overall.

Killer hike. They should call those the winded range. It’s hard to catch rumors. Got into the big ones finally. The views are hard to beat.

Awesome video! I’d love to catch some Wyoming goldens, my first fish on a fly was a golden trout but it pales in comparison to the ones in Wyoming

@@TroutHowler I'm pretty much there always. My spirit is connected to natural pursuits, the interaction with nature sustains me though it is through your lens. Hopefully soon, I plan to walk from the southern Rockies at New Mexico in early spring north through to Kalispell, MT. I'll definitely bring two fly rods. I love unregulated / naturalized pack animals free to graze and drink in the forests and wilderness. I'll probably select two or three Burro's, either sisters or a Jack, Jennie and a foal. Along with three goats a Billy, Ewe, and a kid. I plan to post the trip on my own channel enroute so you'll know when we're in proximity. I'll probably opt to veer west through Utah then follow the divide through glacier Montana. Sometime afterwards I plan to spend one year towing a small boat to every lake from Glacier MT at ice off down to the gulf in Winter. In between Im studying aeronautical engineering, and everything. Eventually, I'll captain a seaworthy vessel, maybe a tug cruiser conversion up the inside passage slowly from April through August then back down into Washington.

I do t think I have ever heard of a balanced a scud? Do you sell flies?

I don't sell flies. I don't have time for all the requests. They are tied similar to a balanced leech. You just cosmetically make them look like a scud instead of a leech. I show the balanced scud at the 8:25 mark of this video kzread.info/dash/bejne/lZWVuZKBkq7Kp8o.html

I went out to Wyoming for a backpacking trip a few weeks back. I had winds over 25 mph for 3-4 straight days which, combined with less fishing time than I'd hoped, hampered the fishing. I had trouble seeing trout in those conditions and didn't have much luck blind casting aside from one lake where they were taking the balanced leech (couldn't seem to find congregations of fish in the usual inlet/outlet scouting). That level of wind isn't something I've got much experience dealing with in the past. What do you do when it gets that windy?

Unless it's just insanely windy we usually keep at it. I usually switch to a heavily weighted sink tip line that you can still manage to cast in the wind when it's really bad

I returned from the Winds a week and it w as blowing 25-50 mph. I used a spinning outfit and 1/4 Oz lures and scored 12-20” Cutts. Fly tod worked only in the areas where there was brookies

At one point my garmin's weather forecast was saying gusts of 65 mph and I believe it. I'll also add that I'm glad I mashed the barbs on all my flies before the trip and that my casting in the wind needs some work 😅. Next time I go, my backup rod will be a spinning rod. I still caught plenty of good cutthroat, but it was kind of annoying that the wind really kept me from targeting them how I would've liked. If I could see them, though, they'd ruse to a dry.

@@fishinbros7300I buy them by sight, rather than name. I would have to open up a online shopping. But where and when and what colors mattered more. I did not fish the mornings. I was catching fish after the water warmed up by noon. I was striking out in some places and I moved. Inlets should have worked, but not much luck, 1 fish. No bright colors. Silver or gold spoons. Black streamers on a fly were working well. Anything with a lot of color did not work. If something did not work in 3 casts, I moved or tried a different lure. It was windy for many days, so fish could not wait. Normally I cannot get a bite in high winds. Was I just lucky? Maybe I was catching 5 fish per hour

Why the gloves?

@TroutHowler My hands get destroyed If I don't wear the gloves. It started about the same time I started doing KZread fishing videos. My hands will look like I have a 3rd degree sunburn at the end of a trip if I don't use them and my skin will literally peel off. It kind of sucks when fishing happens to be your favorite passion. I get quite a bit of flack for using the gloves but it usually comes from uneducated know it alls that are just regurgitating something they heard when in all reality they have no actual clue what they are talking about. It is true that there can be a negative effect if too much of the mucoprotein protective layer is removed when handling fish with gloves or handkerchiefs etc. This tends to be more common when using organics vs synthetics, but gloves have been used in fish hatcheries for many many years and still are to this day. Miraculously the vast majority of the fish are fine
