Traxxas T-Maxx 3.3 Tuning and Ripping

Ойындар

This is how I tune my nitro engines. It is always best to start with factory carburetor settings. The T-Maxx 3.3 is running on 20% Nitro with OS 11k Carburetor. Hope it helps all who's interested. Stay tuned for more!

    @@Dre357 yes I know them of course 👍 but I meant RTR stock, by our usual brands !! Reliable, perfectly tuned etc. Exactly like Traxxas does with this T-Maxx for example… Something dead constant, never failing, easy to operate Yeezy to look (Not sure my English is very good sorry for that)

    Bro, the sound, smell and two speed sound soo dope! But the electric on a mild setting will eat that for break,lunch and dinner. I stayed nitro for the last 20 years, was introduced to electric around Christmas. Traded the nitro, bought 2 electric both castled out. One 71mph, the other 67mph. So ez, plug and play. God bless bro, appreciate your post

    I own and enjoy my share of electrics as well. I even own an Arrma Infraction 6s. But ease of use and speed is not what I'm on right now. I enjoy the sound, the smell, 2 speed and 3 speed you mentioned. I also enjoy the tuning, not having to wait for a balance charge and storage charge and simply pouring in some fuel and burning some nitro. The great thing about this hobby is it appeals to so many people for so many reasons. Thanks so much for the comment and I hope you enjoyed the video!

    Hey man great video, I have a nitro slash with the TRX 3.3 for over 10 years now, I’ve just started running it again after being shelved for a few years. It can get up to high speed without issue but it’s acceleration from a standstill is pretty slow, unlike yours which can pop wheelies easily. I’m not an expert with tuning but from what I understand that might have to do with the low speed needle. Do you have any suggestions with that? My other theory is that it might just be the throttle servo starting to give out which is over a decade old at this point but I’m pretty sure it just has to do with tuning.

  • @Dre357

    The OS carb is probably the best upgrade you can do on this truck or any traxxas nitro. I wish traxxas would put a little more quality into there carbs so new people to the hobby wouldn't get so frustrated and give up. The 3.3 is actually a decent engine its just that garbage carburetor

  • @Dre357

    @Dre357

    I agree. The OS carburetor is much better in every aspect. It would definitely make tuning easier for newcomers. In the video, I was attempting to show how simple it was for me.

    I think the biggest problems is the idle screw they should call it the air screw instead because it won't adjust correctly until the LS needle is set correctly. And most beginners will back it way out thinking it's going to lower the idle but all it's doing is leaning ot the low speed.

  • @gingerman6560

    @gingerman6560

    @@michaelgraham2943i know right and thats exactly what i did when i started out with nitro until i learned to set the idle gap then leave it alone and adjust the idle with the low speed needle. With that said some work halfway decent but most are still inconsistent garbage and even with that knowledge still wouldn't work right half the time. Have a nice day bud

  • @michaelgraham2943

    @michaelgraham2943

    So far the only problem I have had with a carburetor is I got a bad HS needle on my rustler right out of the box. What I found that works for me is I set the LS needle with the fuel line pinch test so it turns off in 3 seconds then as I slowly lower the idle I richen the LS at the same time and same amount of turns until I find the idle I like I usually start with a 0.06mm air gap and after it's finally adjusted I end up with something like a 0.02mm air gap. The trick is keep the low speed set so it turns off in 3 seconds as you adjust the idle screw.

    @@michaelgraham2943 Well you kind of made my point and i can tune a 3.3 carb. What you explained is a lot for most people. The os carb is just more forgiving and consistent on the settings. What i was saying is it would make it easier for newcomers because lets face it most people are not mechanically savy and dont want to spend that much time to figure it out and just plain give up before giving it a chance. Not saying it needs to be os quality but they could have done better. I'm glad you had good luck with yours but thats not everyone's story.

    hay brou, im just getting into to nitro. i acquired a T-Maxx 3.3 in a trade. (Free) i know not much about nitro... I listen to you run. did you add a second gear? or is that stock? does mine have that? I find i have several upgrades on it. but i need to start with buying a starter kit. is there a specific kit i should buy for this T-Maxx?

  • @Dre357

    @Dre357

    4 ай бұрын

    Alright. I'm gonna answer your questions to the best of my knowledge. No I didn't add a 2nd gear and yes it is stock other than the shocks and carburetor. Now, as far as a starter kit, it depends on a bit of things like how the engine is started and how the glow plug is ignited. Some things that are usually a must is of course fuel, fuel bottle, glow plug igniter and extra glow plugs, a tool to remove/replace a glow plug and small flat head screwdriver. Here's a suggestion: Redcat Racing 80142A Nitro R/C Starter Kit a.co/d/4FitBcf You may also need one of these as well to start your engine: Traxxas 5280 Complete 2.5 Control Box a.co/d/e0OSOiy If you need the control box, you'll need a 7.2 volt NiMH battery pack with a tamiya connector and charger to power it: Melasta 7.2V 9.6V 8.4V RC Car Battery Charger Compatible with Redcat Racing Hexfly NiMH Battery and Standard Tamiya Battery, 2.4V-12V NiMH/NiCD Universal RC Charger a.co/d/gXWA0bi Zeee 7.2V NiMH Battery 3600mAh RC Battery High Power with Tamiya Connector for RC Car RC Truck Associated HPI Losi Kyosho Racing Hobby a.co/d/bJpQF8b Hope this helps, good luck and be patient! 👍🏿

    My engines have been running consistently around 200 this time of the year and have been performing to the way I like. The temperature usually rises as start running harder and the fuel tank gets at below half, the temperature rises to around 240. That's still in the safe zone for me.
