hey bro! I knew the 3.3 would blow you away with it's VALUE, size and Features. Also as I always say in my vids, the 3.3 model is the one to get, you see that now. Looking forward to the first 2-speed shift on this t-maxx bro. BTW, the whole breaking it in with the wheels off the ground is not necessary, that is normally only to confirm the clutch spring isn't bad and you don't have a runaway as soon as it fires up, you know.

Yes on the ground break in is the way I just want to trust the rc first and get close on the high speed adjustment as I hate tunning on the ground lmao I’ve already ran it today so one tank left and then shift point adjustment next as it didn’t shift with tune close tomorrow will be running video 💪glad I got the right Tmaxx in the end it’s a beast thanks 🙏💯🔥

This is why KZread is awesome. I put my forgotten tmaxx back together again tonight and got her running. It's midnight almost by the time I got done so just let her idle in the garage. Gave it a good cleaning, new glow plug, cleaned the one way in the easy start and readjusted the idle gap and linkage. I'll give this 3.3 another try. I'm not crazy about the handling of this tmaxx but it could be a fun truck in winter in the snow. It is fast with the 2 speed. No denying that. But I just had a really bad experience with this thing compared to any other of my many nitros I've had since the 80s.

FYI if the glow plug is not getting hot enough the T-maxx will flood and hydro lock very quickly ! so you need to take out glow plug and tip truck upside down and get the extra nitro out of engine and start over again ! Just make sure your glow plug is getting hot ! When tuning the engine you should be driving the truck. Awesome truck !!!

Just FYI, the best time to run Nitro's is early on a Saturday morning. My neighbors love it or at least that's how I interpret "Hey I heard you running your cars this morning." Haha, I could be wrong. Just a tip, use a heat gun to warm up the block and it'll really help the start up. That tip will be more helpful when it's cold out.

I’d wish Traxxas would come out with a Tmaxx 4.0. It should be 1 inch wider and a 1/2 inch longer than a current Maxx V2. Please also have it with a quick release body. Price should be $499. I’d promise to buy one for me and another one for my son. Come on Traxxas, one for your heritage. The Tmaxx is what put you guys on the global scene.

I dont disagree about getting the 3.3 rather than the 2.5 but not because it is "easier" to tune, difficulty in tuning is related to how the RC was assembled and the different area you plan on running it versus where it was built and a few other factors... fuel type, nitro amount, etc.. , But it is an older vehicle and with increased knowledge and better products they definitely improved the tunability and performance on the 3.3, You could buy three of the same exact nitro RC's and each could have its own tuning needs out of the box

Good video, just a word of advise.. when you go to start it, you should pre heat your engine with a heat gun or hair dryer and the engine will start even easier. Also when breaking in a engine you should keep the engine rich. I like to keep the engines spitting out oil of the stinger during break in. But the best starter nitro to me would be the nitro slash 3.3. Super simple chassis, and the 3.3. 2.5 is a badass engine but they are a little more difficult get running right. Have fun with that truck, i got the 2.5 and my dad has the 3.3. Such fun trucks. Check out some of my tmaxx videos, i think youll like them

Whenever your breaking in a new engine it’s best to heat it up to at least 180 with a heat gun or a head warmer, the reason the motor was seized is cuz it’s a brand new motor and has more pinch then a broken in one, heating it up will expand the sleeve so it’ll turn over and not get stuck, also prevents marring on the sleeve from the piston, also always put your piston at bottom dead center when you shut it off so the piston doesn’t expand in the sleeve when it cools down

After dozens of glow plugs and dish soap looking for air leaks and screwing around I ended up benching it for years..then I got bracket from how2rc and turned mine into an electric. I still think nitro is really cool..like a real car in miniature. Just not for me. Electrics have come a long way and I just don't have the time to spend tinkering like I used to.

I’ve seen your vids and tuning is not your strong point. The carb is the same on both the 2.5 and 3.3 engine and I will say the 2.5 can be a bit more picky about its tune but not any harder to tune.

The 3.3 is a great nitro! Definitely the way to go if you want to keep it out of the box. I will always love the classic though, my first nitro was a classic tmaxx I bought from a lot and rebuilt it from the bottom down. The classic with its shorter wheelbase, a nicer carb on the 2.5, and some Robinson racing gears in the tranny makes it pretty much indestructible+ monster wheelies. As well as dealing with the smaller issues. Looking forward to more nitro content. Tmaxx strong baby 😎 💪

You know, I must admit, this 3.3 engine does seem to be easier to tune. But, I still prefer my electric version engines. That being said, I do enjoy watching other people run their nitro RC'S. I think, most RC companies, including Traxxas, would have more people enter into the nitro side of the hobby, if they could make the entry easier for people. For example, by pre tuning and breaking in the engines at the factory. I know, it takes out the having to learn to tune your engine. But, let's face it, most people do not want to bother, learning to tune a nitro engine, myself included.

cool rc and break in,i had no problems with tuning my 2.5 and it was my first nitro,it is in my old s-max now and makes that thing pull wheelies, also got the Jato 3.3 and never had trouble tuning that one either,i break my nitro engines by wrapping them with foil and keeping the temps around 200 to 220 4 tanks idling and it breaks them in good, just give it gas every now and then to clear the pipe out.I have a dynamite .19 i put in my t-max and broke it in the same way and have no problems with it,also broke in my Kyosho USA-1 the same way and it runs great.

Great video Earl, keep 'em coming! Very informative. I'm torn between the T Maxx 3.3 and the Revo.
