Travels by Narrowboat - "Out Here In The Fields" - S10E05
Join Aslan and I as we now tackle the two remaining locks at Hillmorton on the Oxford Canal, and then set off in search of a mooring - preferably somewhere near a shop.
Out here in the fields, whilst I may not have to fight for my meals, I do have to ensure I'm within walking distance of a shop. Further, whilst I do put my back into my living and I don't need to fight to prove I'm right, I'm not looking to be forgiven . . . at this point the WHO analogy starts to fall apart.
Anyway, hope you enjoy the video.

Wow…is this video a breath of fresh air or what? Beautiful scenery, bright blue skies, fluffy clouds, cheerful narrowboaters, great commentary & still photography. Shangri-la! Yes, good to see new build developers have left the Oxford alone for the most part. Preserving the views “from” the canal rather than creating more “of” the canal. Thanks for sharing it all with us, Kevin!

Thank you so much, Mark. That's very much appreciated. Yes it's a relief that large parts of the countryside haven't yet been covered with 'cookie cutter' affordable housing
Thanks again, CHG! You are really living your best life these days. Calm, cool, and collected 24/7/365. You are an inspiration to all of us. Enjoyed the scenery in this one, looks like there's the promise of even better scenery ahead. Good times. Cheers till next time.

Glad everyone was happy because of the sunny spell thanks for all the views Kevin grand vlog tc 🤗👍🤗the oldies
I half expected a recipe. So we could "Fight for our meals." Nice job as usual Mr O'Reily ...
It looks like you had quintessential English summer weather in this episode. Blue skies and big cloud formations in wide open countryside. Enjoy it all Kevin. Thanks for sharing.
Your channel just gets better and better, Kevin, the slideshow was a nice touch:)
YAY! Kevin and Aslan are back with another video!
Love your calm, relaxed pace. No hurry. No Worry. Welly, Welly, Welly...all good for Shelley!

Lovely, lovely. Your videos make me think of John Constable paintings, if such paintings were mobile. The offerings in the butcher's shop in Braunston all looked delicious.
Thank you for the tour. The weather was beautiful, it’s really such a help with the moods of everyone . Keep well.
Love it when you throw the stills in! 😊

Beautiful photographs! Really enjoyed this!
Watched your canal videos from the first. Thousands of other narrowboat youtubers out there now, but your style quite unique and by far the best to watch.

Many thanks indeed Andrew.
Haha. When you moored up!!!
Not wishing to sound all wanky and all, but I believe the description for what you’ve been feeling, going about your daily boating business, if you weren’t aware, is what they call being “in flow”, which as a mediative state is extremely good for you, where you just are. Being at one with your actions. In a constant perfect state of action, movement and flow which you described wonderfully, at one with your universe. Sorry if I’m teaching you to suck eggs. But I’d say you’ve reached a perfect state. Nice one, Kev. Some lovely photography too. You certainly have a great eye!
Hello from Kansas! Yea, that boat yard at the beginning looked like it had been the victim of an explosion! My next thought was to wonder if anybody had been killed there!!! Thanks!
It’s like living in a fairy tale.
A good photographer can use the most basic tools and still get a good shot. Just as a good artist can use a cheap set of paints and do a stunning painting. The painting won’t last as long but with a digital camera, that issue is moot. Not that I want to initiate this overlong debate as I am an artist, and a poor photographer. My husband, however, was a skilled photographer who would wax philosophically on the benefits of having absolute control of aperture that quickly resolved any insomnia I might have been suffering. Stunning shots throughout this video and I appreciated every one of them. Thank you for making a miserable day much much better!
Still photos were great to see.
Nice photos…. Thanks for sharing!
They should build a canal through the Scottish Highlands a lock every 30 meters would be well worth it for the scenery - and i'd gladly watch you do it

Somebody told me Country House Gent had a new Travels by narrowboat episode out called 'Here in the fields' .. i said "Who" 🤣👍🤘🤘🤘
Love the shirtless guy sitting on the roof of his boat at the end! Great photo. Terrific vlog, thanks!
Your klaxon reminds me of a submarine, dive, dive, dive.

With all the ducks, swans & geese about. I'm surprised we haven't seen a CHG dinner fowl prep yet.... 😋
Smiling & laughing @ 1:30 👍🌸 Onward ➡️ to the finish 🙃
The PERFECT CHG clog! Lovely, relaxed float through the countryside and what glorious photos at the end! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I’m glad I waited to view until a few moments when I could savor it. Thanks!
A couple of hours tottering in the garden then a trip with Aslan as I eat my lunch . Lovely way to spend a Saturday morning 😁
appreciate being able to experience this journey through some gorgeous parts of England. Nice slide show too!
Love the photos, Kevin!
Very nice photo! I guess there will be a run on Leica cameras selling.
I see a wristwatch as a handcuff to time. But yes as you say, time is just a concept used to work out things not a physical thing itself. Love the photos at the end.

I completely agree but it does mean I have no need to buy a nice wristwatch, like an Omega or Tag. Would be nice but what would I do with it. 😁

@@CountryHouseGent I suppose I could get a nice watch but now that I can afford one, I can't see it without glasses. And why spend your money to impress people you don't know with a show piece? And a great tip is never be flash with cash.
I say, this is another spiffing video. Jolly good. Thank you Old Chap, cheerio !
Mouthwatering photo of the pieshop, yes that's a great camera.
So lovely. So Zen. So Kevin and Aslan--with a much-missed "aOOOOga!" to top it off. Special thanks for the photos. The last one, with the bare-chested gentleman obviously enjoying life, wasn't as scenic as the others. But it captured the experience perfectly. ❤
Hi Kevin! It was pleasing to see the canal so busy. Summer, life, and people actually moving about outside.
My favorite flowers, the Queen Anne’s lace.
So good to have you back on my weekly agenda: I can feel the Zen.
a calendar with the beautiful pics of communities would be nice
Beautiful skies and foliage! I must watch again. Loved the slideshow! 🦢

Yes Rikki, incredibly there are still those old parts of England we remember from times gone by. I reckon quality local butchers especially are seeing an upsurge of sorts, considering all that's going on. I'm all for shopping local when it comes to meat.
I'd love to be able to shop at a proper butcher shop. Where I am, it's all supermarkets or... Walmart... 😖 Once again, the feeling you were having translated well via video. I needed a few minutes of calm in the middle of a Saturday afternoon. Your day in Braunston looked glorious! The addition of photos added to the experience. Leica cameras give such lovely images. My lowly Nikon Z50 can't really compete, but it'll do me. Thanks again for bringing us along, and spreading the relative tranquility of life on the canals.
Thanks Kevin
Thank you Kevin for the relaxing journey. Best wishes, Deb
I’d been enjoying looking at the clouds and wondering what could be seen in them. And then you pointed out the Mark of Zorro! Yes! I’ll have to finish this one later. My son is about to pick me up to take me to spend the night with him and his brother and my grand dog. We’re all counting our blessings, aren’t we? See you again before too long.
Gorgeous stills with that camera. Speaking of time: I save watching of your vlogs until I have time to watch them uninterrupted. Just prior, enjoyed a joy filled stroll along the lakefront path here where neighbors say good morning in passing. I share your noticing of good energy in the air. Cheers!
Great stills !! From a great photographer !! STAY SAFE
It’s Friday, It’s new Kevin, it’s all good! Nice “Baba O’ Riley”:reference too.❤️
Thanks for sharing your travels with us. Much appreciated. ❤
Beautiful pics at the end. I remember how much you appreciated armco way back in season one. Always look for armco.
Just completed a 11 day trip from Wincham to North Kilworth, and finding decent moorings was an absolute nightmare. It has to be said, 11 days away from work and all the issues, was life changing. Loved it and can't wait to get back out there.

Great seeing you when you visited brinklow like I've said before, made my day. Thanks Kev !!
Ah, yes, Kevin, we know... ;-) Grand video once again. England's looking great.
Love the photos! But my favorite are the two at the end. Thank you for sharing
Thanks Kevin, this was a lovely cruise onboard Aslan which really brightened the day on my birthday as I'm suffering with the dreaded "Man-Flu" or as my mother-inlaw said it was "Flu-my arse", lol. The butchers looked fantastic but when I saw the chalk board outside mentioning pork pies, I thought that Kevin would be in there like a shot, so when you did they looked magnificent. I hope that you are doing well. Take care and all the best. Stevie

Yes my mother was always quick to point out that whatever cold I had, a woman would handle it far better. 😆
Great video as always Kevin.
Thank you for another great video and for prompting a memory from my past. In 1981 I saw The Who in Birmingham. I bought a package that included a concert ticket and a coach ride to the show. It turned out to be a coach full of Air Force troops. I remember the whole bus load of us singing this song during the ride. Because we were all drinking, there came a point where a bathroom stop was required. The driver just stopped on the side of the road. Most of us exited the coach and all lined up, basically shoulder to shoulder, along the edge of the road and relieved ourselves in the ditch. As we did a woman came along walking her dog. I didn't hear her say anything. However, when i saw her face she was smiling ear to ear. All I could hear was about 40 young men laughing as they stood draining themselves.
