Christopher Rogers one hundred percent! I am SUPER into rescuing and absolutely hate backyard breeding and personally didn’t even want to support good breeders that keep their dogs in kennels and don’t treat them like family. I found the goldfiens and they take such amazing care of their dogs. They treat them like family and don’t breed often, they feed them completely raw and fly someone out to do their ears and tails. They spare no expense when it comes to top of the line treatment for their dogs and dobermans also are prone to heart issues and they all of their dogs live to over thirteen with no history of heart issues in any of their bloodlines. They keep all of their dogs for their whole entire life and care so much about the dogs well being. I also wanted someone that would work with me to find a quality dog that also would be a good fit for my training program and that is exactly what they did. In my opinion you should either rescue, or spend lots of money getting a quality dog from a breeder you respect to another level(:

katy, i have a question. I am bringing a Doberman from Virginia to Phoenix at 9 weeks. What airline did you use? It seems like Southwest has restrictions on the size of the crate that can go in the cabin. How many pounds was your doberman when you brought it on the plane. I am concerned that if the puppy can't turn around in the crate comfortably like it says in their rules they will not us board the plane. So last resort rent a car back and drive 33 hours!!! With a puppy!! Yikes. Any feedback will be appreciated! Thx

Reputable doberman breeders in the US crop the ears before sending the dog home. Katy wouldn't have had a choice in the matter if she bought from a good breeder and it looks like she did. The pup is probably about 12 weeks and the ears are up in posts with no visible sores or redness. Good breeder! She's going to be a good looking dog!

I’m so happy for you and your beautiful pup! I must say though that I’m finding more and more that rescues and “good breeders” are far too controlling. It feels more like renting a pet when they have so many rules about how you have to take care of your pet. I’m looking for a Dobe, but I can’t get on board with a borderline shared custody situation.

Animalaholic. cropping the ears and tail docking have a necessity actually. These dogs were genetically created and the ears and tails are fixed afterward kind of like male humans getting circumcised at birth and there’s a reason for that as well. these dogs are so strong and their tails are so strong that when they wag them they could be harmful and they will whip the crap out of everything and hurt someone. The ears are cropped so they will hear better and it helps them understand your words and be more alert. Imagine holding your hands over your ears and the sound being muffled, it would take a few seconds longer to try to interpret what’s being said.

Christopher Rogers circumcision is a while other lot of unnecessary pain inflicted on a poor innocent baby, it was originally done for religious reasons and suddenly just became the thing to do, thankfully people are now waking up and realising how disgusting of a practice it is, same with docking and cropping puppies, many countries have banned it and the dogs there are perfectly fine, the dogs don’t need it it was literally done for looks to make them look scary that’s it, it’s an old barbaric practice that should be wiped out, your reasoning is absurd and just an excuse people have come up with to justify it, there are plenty of large breed dogs that don’t need their tails cut off so saying it’s so they don’t break them from wagging is just ridiculous also dogs can hear so much better than we can and there are many breeds that have much larger and fluffier ears than a Doberman who hear perfectly fine.

Ear cropping is far less invasive, way less painful and alters the dog much much less than spaying and neutering. But sure, be an advocate for cutting testicles off and slicing stomachs open, the permanent removal of extremely important hormones and things that cause a plethora of health issues for a dog then cry about ear cropping lol "tHe DoG dIdN't WaNt ItS eArS cRoPpEd" Probably don't want their nuts cut off or their uterus removed either. "ItS cOsMeTiC aNd UnNaTuRaL AnD nOt MeDiCaLlY nEcEsSaRy" There is nothing natural or medically necessary about spaying or neutering either. And yes, spaying/neutering IS cosmetic. You are altering your dog physically and psychologically to fit your own personal wants. EaR cRoPpInG hUrTs No, it really doesn't. Vets have great methods of pain control. #MindYourOwnBusiness

My vet tells all her clients that if you are a responsible owner NOT to spay/neuter. In her 30 years of practice she’s seen many adverse health effects & shorter life spans

Cropping means part of the ear is removed in pitbulls almost all of the ear is removed, in Doberman about half of the ear is removed so they can be taped up and made to stand erect

Who cares if someone likes cropped ears? They're done under anesthesia. No one says anything about spaying/neutering pets yet it's more invasive than cropping ears and has more negative effects than people think

BeautifulEurope97 although it is invasive at least fixing your dog has a purpose to make sure they don’t have puppies I don’t wanna be disrespectful but doing unnecessary surgery’s on animals that can’t consent to I think is cruel again I understand it wasn’t her decision so I don’t think anyone should unsubscribe from her just because she got a puppy that already had this happen cause it’s not like she can reverse it and the people who did do it experienced like she’s said multiple times I understand why people do it and I don’t think people are abusing the dogs but I just wish it didn’t happen.
