So sorry you didn't have such great weather during your trip here. However, it gets hotter and more humid as we get into June, so overcast, rainy days are probably more comfortable for touring. Just wanted to say that the Native American museum has a great restaurant. Don't know if you had a bite there when you visited. It's pricey but very good. Not far from the Native American Museum is the U.S. Botanic Garden. Since you appreciate greenery, you would've enjoyed visiting there. kzread.info/dash/bejne/g2aAusGtf8iwZ5M.html The other building you were in -- the American Museum of Art/National Portrait Gallery -- has the portraits of all the presidents and first ladies. Did you see those? You're right. The National Mall is not the place for great dining, although the museum restaurants are pretty good. You have to go into the various DC neighborhoods to get some terrific food. However, you were in Penn Quarter and Jose Andreas -- who is the chef who started World Central Kitchen -- has a slew of restaurants in that neighborhood, all pretty good, such as Oyamel, Jaleo, China Chilcano, and Zaytinya.

Omg thank you for your comment! Sounds like you're from the DC area or super familiar with it. I didn't get to experience most of the things you mentioned so thank you for the recs and food suggestions!! So helpful when I revisit. And it would be great to explore other neighborhoods, like during my trip I actually wished I had more time to do that. And you're so right about the weather, like humidity can be brutal especially when touring the city. I didn't mind the bit of rain!

@@Itsamandalau Yes, I've lived in DC for over 30 years, but I was born and raised in South Jersey, right outside of Philadelphia. So, I know a lot about that city too.
