We were there last year and we sat out in the grass near the Smithsonian Metro station. We had a great view and quick easy access to the train afterward. This year will be no different.

I live pretty close to the Netherlands Carillon so I'm going to walk over there tonight to watch the fireworks. First time seeing the DC fireworks show in person. Can't wait!

Thanks for the great recommendations. We ended up going to the GW Parkway to watch the fireworks. It was great and so much easier to navigate the Metro afterwards compared to prior years when I went to the National Mall.

You still have to show up early when watching the fireworks from a boat. Those spaces fill up fast.

It's a little further away but there's a nice view from Meridian Hill park also

@Trip Hacks DC are there restrictions regarding chairs at the Jefferson memorial? I'm not seeing anything through the NPS website either generally or specifically for the memorial. Any insight is appreciated. Thank you!

Great video! You said the Iwo Jima Memorial is very close to Netherlands Carillon. Is the Iwo Jima Memorial also a good place to view the fireworks?

behind the airport Ronald Reagan I think this is one of the best places to watch it from🎉 I'm happy forth to everybody

I live in DC. This year, I chose the Jefferson Memorial. Way too much walking. Blocks to the viewing area. After the show, I ended up walking clear to NE DC because the metros were insanely crowded. I've been to Rosslyn. It's a nice view, but The monuments are far away, so the Iwo Jima is best to have in the foreground. I like things framing my photos. I think the museum area looked great, too. Since I ditched the heavy equipment and started using my phone, the results are much better.

There are portable toilets at all the National Mall spots.
