Travel Guide To North Sikkim (In Malayalam) | How to get permits? | Where to Rent Bikes In Gangtok?
When we reached Gangtok, Sikkim, we had no clue on how to travel around, which all places need to be covered, how to get the permits or from where to rent a bike in Gangtok. The information that we found on KZread too were not clear or misguiding. So we thought of creating a video with whatever little knowledge that we gained by staying in Gangtok and travelling to North Sikkim.

Where did you stay in Gangtok?
Jain Group Hotel Potala, Tibet Rd, Gangtok - Rs700-Rs1000 (Depending on season) - Decent rooms with extra neat bathrooms, bed linens and public area. Food is cheap compared to the restaurants outside and is very homely and tastey. There are many hostels around for Rs300/head.

Very informative but there is a small correction though , you need travel permit to visit North and East Sikkim and not west Sikkim. Nathula Pass. Zuluk, Old silk route are in east sikkim. Also you can rent bike from Silliguri as well. I rented my bike from Siliguri and there was no problem whatsoever.

There is a small mistake in the video as Mel mentioned. We wrongly mentioned East as West Sikkim. You need permits for East Sikkim which includes Nathula, Zuluk, Rolep etc... For West Sikkim (Pelling, Geyzing, Yuksom etc) no permits are required.

We love to travel in our car(xuv 5OO). Is it possible to travel in our car in entire Sikkim?..Are the restrictions related usage of private cars are sesonaly?..if so kindly tell us in which season we can use our own vehicle...

No, its not seasonal. The initiative is taken by Sikkim Govt. to support the taxi operators in Sikkim. Also, if you are using a bike, that must be registered in your name itself.
