Am doing a quilt for my step grand son, he loves dirt bike' s so i looked up panel quilting and found Rob man sewing , thank you. I now know what to do with my panels trapunto quilting looks fabulous thank you for the tutorial on this method , loved it

I absolutely love Man Sewing. I just came across this video while learning about trapunto quilting. I have found a dinosaur panel that this technique is just perfect for. Of all the videos I have researched this is by far the best one for trapunto. Mr. Rob you are the best!!

I am a beginner quilter, and I was so happy to hear your comment about moving the quilt while quilting. I am on a domestic machine and sometimes can't see what I am doing if I don't turn the quilt. I always felt I was doing something wrong. Now I know it is okay as long as I stop and the needle is down!

Honest to God I never knew or heard tell of this technique before, but as I was lying in my bed the other night, I actually thought, “hmmmmmmm, I wonder can you quilt with an embossed effect?”.......... obviously you can.....thank you for sharing your creativity xxx...........PS, you will always have our attention 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Thank you for this tutorial, the timing is perfect. I bought a beautiful panel when I was in Canmore on Christmas Eve and was not sure how to best quilt it. Your have given me some great ideas.

Trapunto usage of batting I’ve been doing awhile for my appliqués sometimes doubled plus sandwich batting, but this is another great example of it being used for scenery! Love the panel with the yellow border and the duck bill scissors too. Also your quilting in the water is very interesting! Thanks so much for a great easy example!

Love this type of quilting and yes, there are lots of very beautiful quilt panels out there. Rob, get yourself a pair of bent embroidery scissors for cutting those tight cutting areas of the batting.

I picked up on the Pfaff quote. They are really great and it is sad that the original company is gone. I have 2 original Pfaff machines and they are still going strong. Thanks for all the great tutorials.

I’ve done trapunto work by hand, but not using free motion quilting. I love the look. As I have several panels waiting for inspiration, this technique would be a great idea for at least one of them. If all goes well I may just get some UFO projects completed. Thank you again, Rob👏🏻👍🏻

Your explanation of how and why to choose certain areas and enhance them with thread color, flange on the border and trapunto was so helpful. The only trapunto I knew about was sewing around the area and then opening the fabric from the back and stuffing added loft batting then stitching that opening back closed! This was great to see a layering of loft first and the effect it creates. Loved it, nice tutorial ❣️ Thank you!

Love your technique ! I did one years ago, by hand, Just something to do while watching t.v. I hope to try machine trapunto but I only have a regular OLD sewing machine (Kenmore from 1960) I did mine without even knowing trapunto had a name! I just "winged it"- your video was most informative. thanks.

So pretty! I've added it to my list of sewing projects. I've seen trapunto before, but not for a long time. I do need to try it. And if you want snow, we have it! Forget the mountains and come on to Ohio! We sure do have snow here. Right now, at 7am, it's minus 5 degrees in my area. And we have the added bonus of Ice Fishing on Lake Erie! The fishing shanties will be popping up all over very soon! I'll be in my Warm sewing room all winter, but you can try fishing out on the ice! Brrr!!!

Ron, this video on trapunto could not have come at a better time. I am actually working on a fabric panel with flower arrangements in flower vases. I would have loved to see the backing after you’d quilted.

To Lisann, for highlighting the snow, I would use the clear "holographic" thread. It is clear but with a colored (red, blue, green and sometimes gold) shimmer that pics up light and reflects it without changing the colors beneath. Great idea, I did not think about that until you asked how!

i love these quilting panels. especially for cots and cribs. but I sew them by hand. I don't know how to put a photo on here of my most recent one.

Great teacher !! I’m new to this I find dressmaking no now to fiddler but I would still like to make things so perhaps this is an option !!

I just started watching your tutorials, Rob, they are great! It is not clear to me what you did here. After cutting away the first batting around the church, trees and snow, did you add another layer of batting with the backing? I get that "Trapunto" means wanting certain parts of the quilt to stand out, but would that mean that the rest of the quilt doesn't have batting, at all? Thanks for your enthusiasm in quilting and sewing!

Rob, you are awesome, this is the third video of yours that I have watched and am now subscribed. Could you possibly help me find or steer me to where I could find a panel - very large, or panels that could be chopped and collaged/appliqued together to make ONE large quilt (ATTIC Windows) to cover my sliding glass door? We have no window insulation and there is snow on the ground here in western Washington. (I am VERY COLD!) I have seen this done for smaller windows. Would be looking for a winter scene including evergreen trees - with or without snow. Anyone else with an idea, please chime in. And a Happy (and safe) New Year to all!
