Transportation | Episode 1 | Anne Frank - After the arrest | English version | Anne Frank House

Фильм және анимация

Anne Frank was a Jewish girl who had to go into hiding to escape from the Nazis. While she was in hiding she wrote a diary, which would later become world-famous. After Anne was discovered and arrested she couldn’t write anymore, so we don’t know what she felt, thought and experienced. But we do know a lot about this period, based on eyewitness accounts and documents. This is what she could have said about it…
SUBTITLES: English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Hebrew.
This series is suitable for children from 10 years old. We also advise that parents should first see for themselves whether the series is suitable for their children, and that parental supervision is desirable.
On 4 August 1944 the police arrested Anne and the others in hiding with her. First they were taken to prison and then they ended up in the Westerbork transit camp. During the night of 2-3 September 1944 a long list of names was read out, including those of the group who had been in hiding. The next morning they were due to be transported, together with a thousand other Jewish men, women and children. But where to?

About the Anne Frank House
The Anne Frank House was established on 3 May 1957 in cooperation with Otto Frank, Anne Frank’s father. We are an independent non-profit organisation that runs a museum in the house where Anne Frank went into hiding and we try to increase awareness of Anne’s life story all over the world, encouraging people to reflect on the dangers of antisemitism, racism, and discrimination, and the importance of freedom, equal rights, and democracy.

No matter what religion, what ethnicity you have, this incident of Jewish massacre is a tragedy to all us. May their souls stay in peace forever and their story stay young like Anne forever. The one thing I learned from all this is no matter how much someone justifies war/massacre , just look at it from the child’s perspective (victims child) and see how it will make that child feel and if that doesn’t not melt your heart then you are not human, not at all.

Very well done! I am non-Jewish and am a history buff. I've always been moved by the story of Anne Frank. This will forever be one of the greatest world atrocities!! I'm so glad that Anne kept her diary because it has kept her story alive. Nothing like this should ever be allowed to happen again. Unfortunately, the reality is that history repeats itself and as terrible as it sounds, I have a feeling that humanity will allow this awful tragedy to resurface someday!

@Anne Frank House, you've made such a priceless contribution by showing the world the brutal, vicious and barbarous atrocities perpetrated by the nazis during WWII. It has been utterly impossible for me not to cry out of desperation and powerlessness while watching the three episodes which feature the horrendous events after the arrest of the Frank and the Van Pel families and of Dr. Fritz Pfeffer. The script is as profoundly moving as Luna Cruz Perez's astonishing performance. Congratulations to the rest of the actors, to the film Director and to everybody involved in the making of these deeply touching movies. May Anne and all the victims of the Holocaust rest in peace, may you never be forgotten.

I watched this in the original Dutch language after it was first posted, and I was afraid with Anne; I liked how the point of view switches from her camera to simply just from her eyes, her perspective. We can only fathom what these last few months must've been like, as Otto was the only survivor. It's one thing to read about the Holocaust; it's another to watch it depicted through the eyes of a teenage girl.

It’s so sad that after 2 years of successfully hiding from the world, they got caught at the very end. It sucks because out of all the hiding places in Europe, this annex was probably the best and most comfortable and bearable. I’ve read stories of kids hiding behind brick walls, basements in someone’s home, even in sewers.

@@amylee8969 I thought the new series A Small Light did a really good job of showing just that. One couple Jan Geis was helping had to hide in a closet in a church, while they and other families being helped had to send their children away to pose as non-Jews in the countryside - often in lieu of being sent to a camp, which the parents often were. I get your meaning, I think we have to be careful about using the word “comfortable” though… even in a decent size space, there were 8 of them and they couldn’t go outside into the air and sun for two years. You’re certainly right though that many, many people had to hide under even worse conditions than the Franks. It’s all heartbreaking

This is very well made and a very good and creative idea. Thank you so much for making this. I wish more people would read Anne's diary and remember what happened to this little girl and her family and the atrocities of the Nazis. Why did all this happen? How? The Germans did massacre so many people across Europe, it is so terrifying and mind boggling. I'm now in my 50's and have kept the Holocaust in my mind since I learned about it when I was a teenager. Since then, I've read many books , heard many nightmarish stories from witnesses or survivors. I get so mad when I hear people today being anti semitic, racist... or even ignorant of what happened. I wish I wouldn't but it enrages me.

Toxic politicians are trying to ban books from schools that teach people about history. If this keeps happening, stories like this one will be forgotten and history will repeat itself. I can’t stand it when school boards try to shelter and baby kids by keeping history facts away from them. Because scary or not, traumatizing or not, sad or not, todays youth needs to be exposed. Those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it!!
