Feels like I was 14 yesterday and it has been 4 years since. everything upto 14 was default speed. thereafter things started to speed up. 😭😭😭

When he said that, I was watching one of the trucks taking over three days of loading oil. Time definitely runs far too fast

Please do dedicated crude - refinery lines, since you need 2 crude to produce one oil so your entire supply chain isn't really effecient right now.

@@bobbobbington3615 in a tutorial this would be the biggest failure then. Hes immenant about that trains arent possible and that you need to do it with trucks. Hes explaining how you need to setup your route wich will only produces half profit because the first part of the route needs dubble the trucks for it to run 100%. Nothing min/max about this..

Inefficiency is Squirrel‘s trademark. I cringed the moment he set the trucks to go the full route … after he explained that 2 crude produce 1 oil. Squirrel: „Oh well, let‘s buy more trucks.“

I love this kind of tutorial series. Running a normal game, but taking a few extra seconds per decision to explain what things do. Only way I can learn!

Aww, i wish these episodes were longer... Games like this really benefit from long-form videos/streams. EDIT: *checks SquirrelPlus* Ah, you HAVE streamed it...

Wish this was like netflix to binge one ep after the other. Can we take a moment for my 2010 laptop with an i5 3rd gen trying to play this haha!

imagine a pc rendering all the models at the same time on the whole map... thats why it lags

Haven’t played myself yet but I’m thinking that you’re spending a lot of time transporting less than what’s produced upstream of the refinery is because the refinery consumes 2 crude for each refined, so you’d need another crude source. Waiting trucks upstream just delays the time to get more crude into the refinery.

I know i'm late my answer but i started to play the game few days ago. I think need 2 lines. One is transport ing crude oil and then back fuel to town. The second line is oil to the fuel. If not another crude line you what you wrote is i think more efficent. If in the first line 2x more truck than the second you delivering the same amount than the second line can with oil. So you waste less with the maintance cost. (only free ride between the town and the crude oil factory and not ever second truck from oil to crude oil factory.)

I like the slow and steady start. I'd suggest separating the crude -> refinery and refinery -> fuel -> town lines since you need double the crude. It's obviously a bit less efficient since both routes will have an empty leg, but I have a feeling that overall, it might be more efficient? But since the Loughton area is getting revamped, might be a moot point.

I've got 80 hours into TF1 and I'm still learning from this, thank you for doing the series.

I have 1 and 2 and still play both. Many people can't go back, but I still enjoy the original game.

I actually really like this game but I’m terrible at it. There are some amazing creations that people have made. Looking forward to what you create.

I have watched some of your videos on Rail Route and am now starting on this series, as I have and have played both. Your explanations are absolutely top, crystal clear, focusing on the things you need to know at that moment. Impressive, and you are helping a lot of people a lot. Thank you so much, and may your η always be as excellent as your videos.

Perhaps a dedicated train for crude would be a better solution and repurpose those trucks onto the final delivery and oil to fuel, I generally have a dedicated crude line due to the 2:1 ratio. Watching your videos on TF1 is what got me into the game, loving this series!

Hi squirrel, i love your videos and will definitely stick around for some more time. I have a small tip for you for the first oil route that you set up last episode, you could make your line more efficient and profitable by splitting it into two seperate lines. Because the oil refinery has a two to one ratio, half of the wagons to the fuel factory are empty both ways. For excample: Line 1: from A (the oil well) to B (the oil refinery) to D (the town). Line 2: from B to C (the fuel factory) The crude oil gets shipped with line 1 from A to B, the refined oil gets shipped with line 2 from B to C where the oil gets turned into fuel, the fuel gets shipped with line 2 back to B where it drops off the fuel and line 1 picks up the fuel to ship it to D.

@@SuperAd1980 no, because there is a two to one ratio on the oil refinery. There are twice the amount of trucks from B to C and back to B, so you loose quite a lot of profit there…

Watching this makes me realize City Skylines has quite a lot of potential if it takes some elements of this game

Learnt some new tip and tricks while watching first two episodes thankyou can't wait for the other episodes.

You van use the mod DMA stations, they have the perfect preset building so that your trucks dont do weird stuff in the station and everything about this mod is perfect!

05:00 OMG Thank you so much for showing this. I've been trying to look on how to fix this problem I had. Trucks were picking up other items and bringing them to my depots and not picking up what I wanted them to. Once you get into 4-6 needed items for the city, it can get hectic. I kept having random fuel shipped all around, even back to my tool factory depot when it wasn't connected to anything but there was a city close by that requested fuel but I had no lines running to that city. This fixed it all though and ty.

ohhh nice I like the one way truck stops. Feels like there are a few more options that might be mods or maybe a new version since I last played. I didn't even know you could make the platforms longer, just more of them, and every time I tried to add street entrances, the trucks all seemed to manage to get in each other's way anyway. But that config of yours looks great!

I think your crude oil line is messed up...it picks up and takes a full truck to pickup from another crude oil depot, but it's full already before going to the fuel refinery. Maybe it drops crude and picks up crude, but the transfer is null. Can't wait for more Squirrel TF2!!

This is great. I've been watching to see if this game is something I want to buy but I'm stuck because I want to play along with this game but also want to view a few more videos to decide if I want to play the game.

8:00 FYI, trucks always load/unload from the right so make sure they enter from the right. So in this case if the trucks were coming from the left they would drive passed the stop. I didn't realise trucks unloaded/loaded from the right and placed my entrance on the opposite side so they had to turn around in the stop.

I’d split the first line you made, as many viewers say, crude to oil ratio is 2:1. One line would take oil(stop#2), bring it to #3 and take gas back to #2.. the other line sould take crude (#1) and bring it to #2.. then load any available gas there and unload at town in his way back to #1. That way you can set the ratios right with the number of vehicules on each lines and all fuel will be unloaded to town.

It does make a difference which side you place next to the road so the trucks will not make a U-turn inside the station.

Are all items produced at the same speed? I see that it takes 2 crude to make 1 oil, so obviously it'd be better to have twice as many trucks transporting crude as transporting oil, but given that the required resources are available, do you produce 1 crude in the same time you produce 1 oil?

Almost through the entire series; when you talk about 'wait times' is that real time? so when you talk about intervals and wait times.. thats an actual 2 minutes? Seems like a simple question and it seems that it is but just confirming lol. Love the channel, just picked up the game and started and just subscribed :)

I found 3 other Mods in the Workshop on Steam that new players differently need: 1: The UNDO Button. Saves so much time. 2: Rail Tracks X'ing. Yes someone made this, so the rest of us can save time. 3: Free landscaping. I know it might be considered cheating by some, but I feel like it saves time and makes the game so much better. And you can sculpt your environment from the beginning of the game. I hope this helps new players...

@Squirrel wouldn't it be more efficient if you set separate lines for each stop so you can allocate more trucks for the crude oil to help handle the supply/demand issues and then add trucks as needed to the other stops as supply increases? At least on the setup for the first line you made.

The separation of entrance and exit sounds awesome in theory but is sorta crap in practice The largest problem is it makes expansion more of a headache in the future, and still does not really help traffic jams if the path is daisy chained to other producta

You should use ships for crude to redinery, should work

I'm not finished watching yet but I would put a short line railroad from Loughton crude to refinery only, then sell and/or repurpose the trucks and expand delivery to the other city as well with them.

You know given that the game starts in 1900, I would pay to see a DLC that adds military industry where you can supply forts with equipment that they send out, so that you don't have to actually make units and what not, just supplying them with equipment. And maybe during the world wars there's a chance for debuffs to simulate the effects of the war time effort, maybe more stress on your lines..

I wish I'd bought this during the summer sale, but I've been not playing games very much lately... Even at half price I thought it was too much for me considering I'd only turned my computer on for about an hour a week for some months at that stage. And mostly that wasn't for games.

I'm interested in the cargo side, but I'm wondering the ratio's pictured at industries don't seem to be what's pictured (1:1 or 2:1 input to output) especially as the industries 'level up'. Could you shed some light on this?

At Romsey South you’d be better off putting the yard on the other side of the road so the majority of your trucks aren’t turning across oncoming traffic.

When a truck station is only serving one line, you don't need two rows of platforms. The second row will never be used, unless you add a second line sending oil somewhere else. But if it's only one type of cargo going out, you could have more than one line taking that cargo from the same platform. There will be traffic, though, so I usually go one platform per line.

Nice but I would have made bypass roads for the industry and towns to keep the flow rate of traffic higher.

Frequency doesnt matter for cargo its only important for passangers since they are only willing to travel as far as they could reach in like 15-20 mins and when your frequency is to high they simply wont travel as far.

love your Vod's, but think you missed a stop on the new oil line. Shouldn't the full trucks from left oil well to stop at the refinery cargo depo before carrying on to 2nd oil well ?, your current line goes past straight to 2nd oil well and only stops to unload on the way back.

I think you have a misunderstanding about the factories there: The "left oil well" is generating crude oil, while the right one is a oil refinery converting the crude oil into oil (if you look at the symbols it is only a barrel at the oil well and a barrel with an arrow pointing to a droplet at the oil refinery). And then the oil can be converted into fuel at the other refinery. If you look at the original line it also had two "stop overs".

The problem I'm having with a truck station is, I have 2 lines using 1 station, both carrying the same resource but to different places, however the factory is automatically earmarking 95% of the produce for customer A and 5% for B, I have 1 truck to the customer A which is more than meeting that customer's requirements, then I have 10 trucks on the other line with 8 of them running empty because they will not pick up the excess goods earmarked for customer A. I tried switching Customer A's deliveries to the other side of the station but all the goods immediately jumped to that side still leaving customer B with nothing. What am I doing wrong? Is there any way to set all factory output for whichever truck turns up 1st?

I can understand why you would want to start another line on a different city, but wouldnt you want to start an agricultural line to bring bread /food into the city to help it grow faster? Thereby creating a larger market for both bread, and fuel?

Can anyone answer ... is there a mod being applied on the cities that make them more square shaped and not so spoke n wheel shaped like in TF1? I always hated that in TF1, that all the cities develop like that all the time, and there's no randomness to it. (Maybe that's just me, living on the prairies where cities have no geographical impediments :)

Can anyone help me with this question? When he slows the time down to 1/2 speed, do the profits slow down too so you're waiting twice as long to make money?

Ish, TF2 is more its own thing, then locomotion and TTD. Think of it more like a massive tabletop train set with some light tycoon elements you can freely turn off and modify. Honestly, you would maybe like Voxel Tycoon better, its more along the lines of what you are looking for in locomotion being much more focused on the tycoon and factory building side of things.

What should i do to pick up the unsorted mail from the town. Do you show it in another video or what please help bro... BTW i already ask the truck to load unsorted mail form town and unload at the center but still not working.
