Interestingly the early VW T5's are getting rusty now, they are a bit older though, I think the Custom is doing pretty well considering how bad the Fords used to rust.

Very useful video Marty , truth be told I dont think Ford are one of the best manufacturers for rust protection on their vehicles but they have certainly got better. I've got a Mk3 Focus and intend on applying some Bilt Hamber protection to the underside to protect it as I hope to be keeping it for a good while.

About 90k

Much better than the previous shape which I had to scrap 2 of them at 10 years old but not as good as my 2013 200k Renault trafic which is galvanised! Why don't ford do this??

Yea it is probably that they don't last,

No rust on a 9-year-old Ford? The previous model could rot in 3 years like a Sprinter or Vito 😛 I saw a 20-year-old Renault Trafic at a scrap yard without a trace of rust. Vivaro are also galvanized, because they are produced in the same factory.

Very true

Here we like to beef up the factory rust protection by coating the undercarriage with a mixture of used diesel and fisholene. The vehicle is then driven up a gravel road for 10km to get a good coating of dust that helps thicken and set up the coating. I know folks that have been doing this for 60 years.

Mk6 engine bullet broof body work shocking sort the body out then the engines aint all that. Bilt hamber got some absoutley brilliant products for rust prevention and treatments best on the market. Should be a winter service every year after a certain age.

@@Martysworkshop b.h surfex hd APC best on the market aswel everything they do is unbelievable never seen a company like it for quality. UK company aswell. Yeah wouldn't be selling too many if they was built to last pal. Atb subscribed.

@@Martysworkshop I agree! Reminds me of the film "The Man In The White Suit". An ever lasting product would kill off the whole industry. Very useful videos by the way, it has made me a bit less worried about swapping to Ford, seems most problems are not too tricky fix. Reading online before I got the impression everything was so advanced and computer controlled they were impossible to fix but the mechanical parts that fail seem to be the same as ever.

Do you need to remove the rust before you underseal? Or would you just underseal it in it's current condition?

Hello sash, I would wire brush the bad areas, the more you get off prior to underseal the better. Thank you for watching.
