    hi excelent congratulations . The app have all the calculations and features like your 3 diferent spreadsheet? The method for SE. trafos could set up for multi interlaves ? Please, Android too. Thanks

    Thank you Juan! Yes it has all the features of all 3 spreadsheets, plus it can add multiple secondaries. It doesn't directly do the interleaving for you, but you can easily manually divide the number of turns to the pattern you want. The android is coming soon as well, but it is a lot of work. There are many new calculators and app on the way so stay tuned!

    Man, I sure wish I had the ability to buy your apps on my phone.... I've been collecting every old transformer core and bobbin I could find over the past 15 years, just for the hopes that one day I will be able to figure out how to wind my own power and output transformers. I've been wanting to build a 3-way active/electronic crossed over hifi Stereo PA system for my band for about 20 years now, just thought it would be a really cool thing to do and talk about at gigs between sets.

    Thank you! When it comes to input transformers, there are a lot of design aspects which have nothing to do with the calculations itself. You could calculate the number of turns of course, but you would need high permeability core, mu metal can, and probably special interleaving of the windings and maybe even bifilar windings to achieve the same results.

    To be able to handle DC current, transformers need a gap, especially with transformers for single ended amplifiers. Is this also taken into consideration in the calculator?

  • @Delatsch

    Yes, the lower magnetic flux density is compensated for and the practical way of determining the air gap is explained in the tutorial. If you purchase the app, you can send me an email for the pdf tutorials.

    Hi. Got the app and I’m trying to design my first few transformers but have few questions. For a power transformer secondaries ht, should I insert the desired voltage or there is going to be a percentage for load? If for example I’m building a 250-0-250, should I wind both sides at the same time or just one and stop halfway and make the center tap there? Any difference? On a p/p output transformer primaries, should I start winding and stop halfway for center tap? On the secondaries, if I want 4, 8, 16 ohms, if the app says 20 turns for 4ohm, 30 for 8 and 40 for 16, should I wind all independent or can I use same winding making taps at 20, 30 and 40 turns? Thanks.

    Hi Ramil, thanks for your support! Yeah, for the 250-0-250 you would input separately 250 @ 100ma for example and another winding 250 @ 100ma. You can wind separately one then the other and just connect the end of first to the beginning of second later when you are soldering the wire leads. If you have a 50 or 60 volt bias tap you can subtract that from 250 and wind it as a part of the same winding.

    Hello. I’ve been using your app for while for power transformers and single ended out put transformer. I’m using M6 grain oriented laminations. For a p/p output transformer what value should I use for gauss core density? Thanks.

    I bought your app and see plenty bugs which makes using it really hard..but first of all it calculates wrongly. Calculated output transformer: Primary 3121 turnus 0.2mm , S1 70 turns 0.9mm,S2 99 turns 0.76 mm,S3 140 turns 0.64 mm Custom gauges I set: Primary: 0.2 mm, S1 0.511mm, S2 0.511 mm, S3 0.511 mm How it is possible app is not recalculating turns if gauges are changed?? I cannot trust this calculator.. Also buying four gauges to wind small 15W transformer is insane. Please advice!

    Hi, thank you for your purchase. I know the app isn't the most user friendly one, but the calculations are correct. The number of turns is not affected by or dependent on the wire gauge. The wire.gauge.is only important for the current, so that the wire can withstand it without overheating.

    For single ended transformers, what is method 1 and method 2?

  • @Delatsch

    @Delatsch

    7 ай бұрын

    Method 1 is using the inductance as the basis for number of turns and method 2 is more like a normal transformer calculation based on the voltage.

    the app doesn't work if I use commas when entering values. Can't use dots on my iphone. What can I do?

    Hello Felix, thank you very much for your support and interest in the app! It seems that the iOS doesn't automatically convert comma to dot on the decimal keypad. The temporary fix is to go to SETTINGS>GENERAL>LANGUAGE AND REGION and then change the region to United States. I know it is a poor temporary fix so I will try to somehow force the dot instead of comma and include it as an "bug fix" update on the store. Thank you for your feedback!

    Hey friend, I have been following for awhile and appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I finally bought this app, and it's not working. I don't know how long it's been like this, but any time I hit the 'calculate' button, the app crashes. I've tried multiple times with different transformers and cannot get it to work.

  • @Delatsch

    @Delatsch

    Hi, thank you for your purchase! Just delete the transformers you have created so far and create a new one. Then, first create at least one primary and secondary winding and input all the needed fields like power, magnetic flux density etc. Only once you have those fields filled tap on the "Calculate" button. It should work fine. Please let me know if that worked out for you.

    Man, thanks for your help. I see what I was doing wrong now. I just expected some feedback from the app before it crashed. I got it working, but I'm not sure what to enter for flux density. Is that a function of core material and size?

  • @Delatsch

    @Delatsch

    11 ай бұрын

    It depends on the core material. If you are not sure you can use 10,000 gauss. If you have M6 or similar higher quality core you can use 12,000 or higher. @@jonasclarkamps
