This video ends with a nice customizing and encouragement to customize your own. Super. 3/4 of Harley owners customize to personalize. Thanks. However, video starts out with so much criticism I thought it was going to be just another Harley-bashing. Then he surprised me by recommending customizing to change/correct styling the factory gave. Hooray. Harleys are easy to customize, there are tons of parts and accessories and the construction of the bike makes it easy to customize.

Hey give em a break man, they got stuff like the Pan America which is awesome, the Custom 1250 which is probably going to dominate its niche of the market and somehow are actually managing to give them a reasonable MSRP (the Custom 1250 can only be guessed at the moment, but it's pretty easy to do after seeing the Pan America's pricing). Most people I find talking smack about modern Harley don't have any intention to ever buy a Harley regardless as to what they do. That said I just bought a softail Low Rider S and let me tell you, I've owned a lot of bikes from a lot of brands (honda shadow, kawi vulcan 900, v-rod, gen 2 yamaha vmax etc) and it's a damn fine machine. I'm not a Harley guy, I'm just a guy who rides a Harley because it's a good ass bike.

This, the 7min Suzuki teardown, the 4-stroke elimination test to get a bike back up and running after sitting for an age, the carby vs EFI explanation… The content is always amazing, but I don’t feel like Ryan gets enough credit for just how seriously practical and mechanically sympathetic he is. It makes sense considering he’s probably ridden since before he could walk, but this is a guy who started all of this by writing copy and articles. He could always do what I do: I typically use my phone as a speedo... Recently I just decided to buy a phone for my bike.. lol It's cheaper than a GPS unit, has "drive mode" which is a GPS map, with a large speedo on it and music controls as well. It was a 50$ prepaid deal, and in an emergency I can use it to call for help. I just bring it in at night to charge or whatever, it fits in a nice low profile mount and looks like it belongs there... most people assume it's a stock dash like an expensive BMW or KTM or something. There is always a way to make style and function work together, you just gotta get creative. Sometimes when I ride on busy roads or short stretches of the confusing highway, I mount my gopro to my tail and connect to my dash phone. Instant rear view camera, built in wide angle and it was free because I had everything already and I typically have my gopro in my bag anyway. I'd highly advocate for running a cheap or older "drawer phone" as a bike dash. You can do SO MUCH with it. It's 100x better than a com device because you can make standard calls and voice texts, etc. You can have your own music and audio books/podcasts, you have GPS, and emergency apps all available in one device, and you can easily just take it off and use it as a phone or watch videos or google something. You can find 100 different mounting options including super low profile steering stem mounts like mine, millions of cases for the phone to fit your style or make it waterproof, and you can set a cool custom screensaver to add style points to the bike when it's parked. Sorry about the rant, I just think it's an awesome idea more people should use. Not to mention you can use it as a dash cam, rear view, or directly stream your location and use standard free find-my-phone apps for security stuff. It's definitely worth checking out, especially if you want to do what Ryan did and hide your original speedo or remove it altogether.

Unfortunately, you are reading something into my comment that does not exist; that is, me, somehow intimating that the channel was about hating Harley Davidson. However, and I hope this isn't too meta for you, many people did equate the "How Harley Davidson Killed itself" video as hate for that manufacturer, those people, to put it simply got butthurt; just reference (google) all the news sites, blogs, and other youtube 'responses.' So when I ask if the Harley Mafia got to him, I'm referencing those 'Butthurt' individuals, and the people who willingly White Knight for Multi-Million dollar corporations, (Failing or Otherwise). I could keep going on, but this comment is starting to turn into an essay.
