@@marktolman6037 I have a 1994 Dodge Ram 1500 With a 318, would you know if that is the same transmission?

@@adamideus9222 I believe they ran an NV3500, a smaller brother to the NV4500 used in the diesel.
When I removed my trans the easiest way I found was to remove the rear cab mount bolts and lift up the cab to get the floor to clear the shift tower. But wait.....I found the actual problem. The motor wants to nose down, pulling the trans up. I realized this after I got the trans out. I took an engine hoist, hooked it up to the front engine hook point. Lifted the front of the engine up, trans goes in and out like butter. ✌

Thanks! That's a great idea. If I do this again, I'll definitely try this.
I was considering doing this job myself but having to cut the floors is something I can't square
This happened on my NV5600, same thing, goes away in neutral, made a noise in gear. It was actually a bad rear end. I ended up rebuilding the trans first but still made the noise after. Put a rear end in it, boom. Fixed.

Glad you found the issue, too bad about the trans! I haven't made a video yet, but the trans was wrecked. Input shaft and countershaft had to be replaced with new bearings.
Nice walk through TY

Thanks! I'm glad it could help
I use the exact same starting method
that milk create is begging for mercy , don't do that eh. jack front of motor up a few inch to tilt it , to clear sheet metal
Awesomee Video, do you think it'd be possible achieving the same results without a lift? I have trans jack. Preparing myself to the idea of rebuilding this nv4500 since 4th gear has this crazy growl that happens at lower RPMs

It can definitely be done. I've done it plenty of times before buying the lift. Jack the front end up on stands, a floor transmission jack will work just fine.

Finding this channel is a God sent ! I’m facing the same issue. 2002 Dodge diesel 2500,24valve. My clutch went out and I shut her down,called a tow truck and had her taken to a shop. I have driven the truck for 300,000 and never had this happen. Not even a hint. The guy had the truck for a month 🤷♂️. Had a new master cylinder /slave valve and main seal installed. I get it back growling in 4th gear only. The pedal almost too hard to push in. The main seal leaking. The guy says there nothing wrong with it. I tell him to drive the truck and he refuses. After swiftly convincing him;he is more than willing. He drives and decides to fix it.
my tran has to be rebuilt. not looking forward to this procedure, thanks for posting

Not too bad of a job, just take your time it will go ok
So, do you install it with the bellhousing ? Or install bellhousing on the engine first?
@marktolman6037

Still waiting on trans to be rebuilt. From what the shop says, the bell housing goes on engine first, then the trans.

On my 1995 Dodge with the NV4500, it takes the NP 241 DHD transfer case
I have the same issue where it clacks in all gears except 4th. what turned out to be making the noise? i heard the throw out bearing from a buddy. don’t wanna buy 1000s of $ parts. thanks man

It was the input shaft for the transmission. Quite a costly fix, I'm afraid...
I’ve seen where people suggest adding an extra quart of trans fluid to a NV4500 from the top of the shifter pouring it down into the transmission. Is this where they do that?? 12:09

Trying to find that exhaust bracket what’s it actually called?

Search QK1041. It's actually part of the transmission mount. www.walmart.com/ip/QK1041-5-Speed-Transmission-Mount-Kit-for-1994-2002-Dodge-Ram-2500-3500/500497422 Not sure if the link will show up...
Take the shifter hub out and it would slide right down
Why didn't you just rip the shifter off more or take the gearbox out
No cup holder? hahaha. Why am I not surprised?

@marktolman6037

🤣 The plow is not mounted to the truck. Truck is parked in front of it. Plow sits in the driveway all summer not mounted to the truck...because we don't need it in summer.
