7:55 This might not carry over into the next episode adaptation, but something I really like about this new take on the stories is James's change in personality whenever he's not around Gordon and Henry. His bravado is all just an act to make himself not look vulnerable. Here, you get to see a nicer side to him that shows he's actually concerned about his fellow engine. Even further back in the adaptation of "The Sad Story of Henry", he makes a genuine attempt to get on Thomas's and Sir Topham Hatt's good side without any boasting. So often we see in all this fanmade stuff of his prideful/boastful side, it's so refreshing to see a nicer side to him.

I wholeheartedly agree, it's a more realistic depiction too. No one acts one way all the time, and I think the extra dialogue these episodes show are especially good at exploring the potential depth of a character like James who mostly got cast in those same vain roles both in RWS and TVS

I’d also think his laughing at Thomas’s lashing out and such at Gordon is a sign he feels a small sense of kinship with him. James is clearly the runt of the litter amongst the 3 big engines, constantly getting shit from Gordon and Henry, son he probably subconsciously empathizes with Thomas and the flack he gets from them too!

I really love this take on the original stories. The dialogue has a TUGS-esque with all the engines roasting each other with Thomas being a cheeky prick, Gordon being arrogant, James being in-denial and trying to be more impressive to the likes of Gordon and Henry, Edward being the constant and wise figure, STH being the fatherly figure, etc. So every time, they squabble with each other, it really feels hilarious and in a more realistic way.

Also, I love everything from 7:50 onward: Seeing the first glimpses of James' character beyond his vanity - or as @Goji73 puts it, beyond the act that he puts on around certain people - Thomas' utter panic and meekness, the DRIVER being included, and Topham Hatt just trailing off as he realizes that he doesn't need to (and likely _can't)_ drive home the lesson any further. I... I just LOVE how you not only reinterpret the story, but dive deeper into each part and explore how it would play out when it's given more time to breath and develop, rather than being written as children's bedtime story or crammed into a four and a half minute episode.

While the reused first bit is a bit stilted now, I love the changes you've made to this one. Henry's descent from his high horse to a coughing fit, Sir Topham Hatt talking Thomas through the process like a father figure, with Thomas' impatience coupled with wanting to impress him being the reason he sets off early, and James' concern when he meets Thomas leading to into the latter feeling sick at the mistake he's made, it really makes this story feel more grounded. Also the dialogue is as great as ever. James: "Henry, are you kidding me? Like...I think you're gonna die." Henry: * _actually struggling to breathe_ *

I love how often Thomas and james interact in this series, due to how similar the two are it leads to amazing funny moments like when Thomas calls james an idiot because james thought he and thomas would each get a branch line for pushing henry out of the tunnel, and we get nicer moments where james is actually trying to help thomas like in this one. it’s just a good character pairing

The sudden pause and stutter when Topham was about to scold Thomas then he saw his face of sorrow knowing he messed up big time just really tugged at my heart because of how much it reminds me of a dad and son relationship in this type of situation. Another wonderful adaptation! I really can’t wait to see how you develop the characters more in the future especially James since it seems like you’re taking him into a more nuanced direction with his prideful side only coming out when he’s with the other big engines to fit in and a more nicer caring side coming out when he’s alone with Thomas.

I never expected Thomas and James to shine so much in these movies but I certainly appreciate it! I love how you differentiate the personalities of each character while still making them feel recognizable. And whenever the characters do get along or get real and honest with one another it feels heartwarming and earned. I think your characterization of James has all the fun of the CGI version (and the s5 flair) with less of the flanderization holdover from the modern era and more of the depth from his appearances elsewhere which I really appreciate.

This channel is a work of art. Angry Thomas is hilarious yet kinda annoying (in a good way). Henry cutting off everything James says is great, and the reoccurring joke of James taking a goods train is great. Henry's illness, and everyone's obliviousness to it, is done perfectly to set up future episodes. The scene with Thomas and James manages to be funny AND meaningful at the same time. I love the Magic Railroad reference. My only complaint is the lack of connection to the last episode, but I'll accept that in exchange for the amazing opening scene. Also, 1:28 is the best, hands down.

This guy GETS it. It was such a nice touch not letting him finish “condition” because it was always such a stilted line… so many great nods to the original material but such a great twist on it as well

What I like about this Play style adaptation is that you feel more emphasis for the characters, Its quite relatable. There are people in life who have high ambitions on themselves who get a chance then ruin it by getting over confident. The other thing I like is the performance, you (and others if there are others involved) really put yourself/themselves into it, not shying away and shouting your lines when needed. Its really good! I really want to see you do more.

Holy crap I started watching these out of order but these videos and the story telling is SO FREAKING GOOD the voices are on point ,I love the extra dialog that stretches out the story more than what we seen growing up this is amazing I love it. You did a fantastic job putting these together, thank you so much for this

Oh, dear Thomas, you've got some rough tracks to travel on but you'll get there. Also, God seeing Henry so unwell broke my heart. And seeing and hearing Gordon and James being complete asses. Made my blood boil and want to hurt both of them. I don't know how Edward finds patience day after day, but I am so glad he is around. My sanity would diminish rapidly if he wasn't around as the voice of reason.
