I make the loops myself by making a loop in a deck, then dragging the deck header to a remix deck slot and playing the slot 3x. Once you capture the loop from a deck and play it 3 times, its saved automatically in the all samples folder, located in Track Collection / All Samples.

Just go in the controller manager, go to the mapping for your controller (if there isn't one you'll need to click "Add" - "Generic MIDI" -and set the in and out ports to that controller) and click "Add In" and select Cue / Loops - Loop Active - Hit Learn, then hit the button on your MIDI controller that you want to map, then set the paramaters for that command (I would recommend choosing button / toggle)

Yeah that was from my 12 hour set I played on the radio for my 30th birthday. I ended up playing 3 afterparties after that!

It's worth pointing out that some time since this video was made, NI added a "Post-Fader" FX mode, in addition to the Send and Insert. This is cool, because if you have a reverb on a track, then bring the volume down, you will still hear a tail from the track because the effect is applied after the volume fader, not before (as with Insert).

So interesting thank you, those videos will really help me get going!

There's a key lock function in the remix/sample decks, just like with the track decks. If you hover your mouse over the remix deck, there are four icons that appear. The one on the left is a quarter note, and that's key lock. Make sure it's on to avoid the chipmunk.

You can purchase them through any number of sites: loopmasters, beatport, soundstosample, lots of smaller boutique. Just google "loops (your genre)". And of course, there are the less legal ways of finding loops. Also, you can just grab them from your tracks.

Yeah you need to set your Recording source correctly. If your using an internal mixer (like Traktor's internal mixer , s4 etc) set the source to "Internal" in Preferences - Mix Recorder. If your using an external DJ mixer, set the source to External.

I think your files are getting saved somewhere else. Try going to your audio recordings folder in Traktor, ctrl click on one of the recordings and choose "show in finder". This will take you to the folder where all of your recordings are being saved. Then you can rename the files and drag them into itunes. Thanks for watching!

ya when I record off essential it doesn't record but when i make a loop and drag it down it records np, why no work in the middle? But it's fine I just really wanted to use my sample decks now I can thx again dude

If your using the S4 software (where the waveforms are black and white) you should definitely upgrade to the latest version of Traktor Pro 2. That software is ancient at this point and won't be upgraded anymore. The difference btwn traktor SCRATCH and Traktor PRO is you can use timecode with the SCRATCH version (timecode CDs or Timecode Vinyl), but I believe that now with the latest upgrade everything is included with Traktor (including scratch functionality) depending on how old your serial is

When you say that it's not scratching, do you mean that you can't cut between the two channels? All I can think of is to play with the curve of the crossfader on your mixer- either smooth volume decay, or steeper curve, which is what turntablists usually use (I think, I'm not one.)

You need to first make sure the track is beatgridded correctly in Traktor. Check out my video tutorial on beatgridding on the Dubspot youtube to learn how to beatgrid your tracks correctly. The tempo is probably halved or doubled and this is why this is happening. You need to go to the grid panel (beneath the decks) and push the x2 or /2 buttons to fix the BPM.

Maybe your screen is too small. You might have to take some things out of your screen layout to make more real estate. All of the info on how to do this is in my part 3 video on the Traktor Preferences.

Yes, the process is the same with the Z2 mixer

Go to preferences - File Management, then where it says "iTunes Music Library" click the "...!" button and then navigate to your iTunes Music Library.xml file in music / iTunes. This should fix the problem. Also update to the latest version of Traktor because there have been bugs with this in the past that have been fixed with new updates. If its still not loading there might be a corrupt MP3 in your collection. You can find the corrupt MP3 by using a free program called MP3 Scan & Repair

Your computer screen might be too small. You can always try changing the screen resolution in the Traktor preferences

Regarding mix recording, is it the same process with the z2 mixer?

What exactly are you trying to do with Traktor and Windows Media Player? As far as playing songs, Traktor does that (and with the S4 you have the ability to Remix your songs live). Also Traktor has cruise mode if you just want to play a playlist and not be at the computer (like Windows Media player).

I cant get my global effects screen to come up. I checked the box and its definately on, but it wont show up

hi endo i have a problem with my recorder secction the left channel no work but i think its the audio 10 , because when I select the right channel for both works perfect THANKSSS

I hit record but when i listen to the recording you can hear me messing with the other songs with the faders down and when I turn of effects to drown out other song mixing on the recording you can still hear it as if I didn't do any effects, any ideas?

Endo I have Traktor Scratch Pro 2 with the Audio 10 Interface and the Pioneer DJM-400 and I would like to run the X1 controller. Is that ok? or a bit much? How do I load one of the pre sets in Traktor to listen to bcause Im still waiting to get needles for my 1200's?

Why would you Pirate Traktor when you get the software for free now with any hardware purchase? Your going to want a soundcard to go with the program anyways, so why not just get an Audio 2 and get Traktor for free?
