This video was filmed during the evening of Saturday 4th November and the morning of Sunday the 5th 2017. A clear & cold bonfire weekend, temperatures dropping to freezing during night. Engineering work this weekend meant that no services could run through Bristol Parkway. So Cross Country services were running to Newport, then turning back to head via Chepstow to Gloucester & onwards. Late the Saturday night you can see a rare move, where Cross Country operated a Voyager from Penzance to Cardiff because of this engineering work. A rare move & service to be operated by Cross Country!
INCLUDES: Great Western HST's, 153's & 150's, Cross Country Voyagers and Top & Tail DB (EWS) 66's with an RHTT track cleaning train.

When will GWR start using the 800' s more frequently?

800/801 will not normally go as far as Newton Abbot. Class 802 bi-modes will be used on the far south west services. Class 802 is already in testing in both 5 and 9 car versions. Main difference is uprated diesel engines and bigger fuel tanks.

GWR aren't getting 801s...
36 minutes late into Paddington, that train. Rather poor show.
