Ойын-сауық

Listen To This Train Talk On The Radio As It Goes Into Emergency! Suddenly This Train Makes an Emergency Stop. I was at the CSX Railroad Crossing filming a big CSX Freight Train then it suddenly Goes From 50 MPH to 0 in 45 Seconds! It sounded like it broke a few air hoses as you can hear come loud bangs as it started to slow down.
You will also see few other CP NS and CSX Trains. Filmed on 4/25/19 in Dun Kirk New York

You also mentioned it could have been PTC. IF PTC activates it does not put the train in emergency. It goes into suppression which depletes the train line to 0 PSI. So it does not empty the emergency reservoir on the car into the brake cylinder. If there was a dynamiter in the train then it would go into emergency.

  • @billmorris2613

10.22 pst. hay.. just saw this one of yours.. not sure how i missed it for so long. Ref: the loud bangs as slack is taken up as heavier cars push hard into the liter cars that are slowing down FASTER... that can be a heck of allot of pressure from behind... Ref a prior comment I made, another vid where u asked a Q, on why empty flat cars seen (at times) to be spaced out between other larger cars.. (again i am not an expect).. the couple people i talked with a few decades ago would say that the bangs in this vid demo the reason for large strings of empty flat cars being intermingled with heavier cars...or heavier cars are being spaced out between liter cars.. in an emergency braking.. too much pressure coming up on the back of an empty flat car could lift up the back trucks and may derail it. the spacing of heavy/lite cars spreads this tremendous pressure out along the all the cars. it makes sense to me but again i do not know all the dynamics of train cars and tracks etc. hope this clears up my view. very long strings of ONLY empty flats may work out fine as they are all basically the same weight and stop at the same speed.

Couldn’t tell if the springs were compressed or not (on my phone) but a long empty freight will sit down pretty quick.

Hello WWOT how long did it take for the train to get permission to move after the stop-how long did you have to wait to start filming again? that even scared me when it happened so I imagine what you saw & felt.. you have video to prove what happened if need be. 1:46 2. BNSF sandwich between 2 CPs nice loved the seagulls "talking" 3. nothing like hearing the bell & horn! 4. TY for sharing & hope the CSX freight train got fixed,if it was an air hose..

Hi Cheryl, it took about 15 or 20 minutes. And it was much louder in person than you could hear on the video. It must have just been the PTC system that stop the train but it sure sounded like air hoses to me

Once the power drops out a few seconds after it goes into emergency there is no way to control the slack. It will usually run in and out several times. And can cause a derailment. Did you stop recording? If so how long? If not the engineer or conductor probably placed it in emergency from the engine. If the engineer had made a reduction to set the brakes there could be what we call a dynamiters. That is when a normal first reduction causes a car back in the train to go into emergency, instead of a normal brake application. Once one car goes into emergency it causes the rest of the train to go into emergency too.
