When we were younger we used to watch them go by when we got stop but we also counted to see how many cars they were hauling and how many engines. We knew that the more engines the more cars!

29:37 about 6 weeks ago, I was railfanning in eastern ny, there was an intermodal that was One Gevo, 12 Double Stacks, One Gevo DPU, and 3 more Double stacks...

The reason the DPU is near the end is because that was most likely 310. That train stops on Gang Mills Ny to drop cars off. If the DPU is in the middle of the cut, it makes it extremely difficult to do the work if you don’t have another engineer on hand. This way the conductor can make the cut after the DPU and the train can head out.

Just noticed that, but same concept applies. DPU will be before where a major cut will need to happen at a terminal, USUALLY

Thanks to all the information for me I learn more about,

Considering we get about 1 train a day mixed freight going from Jacksonville to New Orleans or vise-versa. There used to be railroad tracks going into Eglin AFB, but they were removed in the late '60s. So that makes trucks going into the base all having to use the Commercial gate. I've seen as many as 40 lined up to get onto the base at that gate. They all have to be inspected before going onto the base property. Any paperwork not with the stuff being brought on means the truck is turned around sent back where it came from and they would have to come the next morning. Why they thought this was better is beyond me.

Last Tuesday I so a train with a DPU just before the last 3 cars thought that was really odd and it had three lead locomotives and wasn't a really long train either

Вау, какое большое и насыщенное видео, здесь было много поездов NS, ещё был момент когда сборный поезд NS остановился тогда менялись локомотивные бригады, рядом стоял большой служебный пикап. Ещё один интересный момент это на 11:50 минуте, в том поезде только у машиниста работали стеклоочистители, видимо машинист ехал один. Awesome video and fantastic catches! I believe M4M could be a different symbol for 14M (Conway, PA - Buffalo, NY) manifest. Definitely a lot of steel for Ford stamping plant.

Great catch with the broken air hose and the safety cars. Also kinda weird with the DPU near the end and not at the middle or rear.

From the list of other folks you 'd like people to jump onto, I didn't see Delay in Block Productions, Distant Signal, Mbmars01, Pwalpar, UP 4014 and 844 steam trains. You might be right, but I'm thinking jet engines transportation and replacements a train is cheaper than using a C130 or C-5 as far a fuel is concerned.

Usually just from age of the hose they wear out eventually kinda like a tire on a car

what are the safety tankers cars for like hazmat drills or something? caution student engineer ( student driver)

someone had "track speed" green signal and then "knocked it down"... I will not look at a NS train engine the same again as, did you see the NS train derailed in Mississippi due to flooding?? it was turned over on it's side along with same cars?? no one was hurt

Wide World of Trains ok. If you are lucky you will see a container train symboled L003. That’s if it runs past that area. When you say symbol Q364 for example me and my friend call it Mr. Q364 lolol.

Why did The Gondola car had the White Hose at the 10:16 mark

That white hose was the repair or bypass hose to fix the broken air line on that car
