Good on you for this video, it shows the pros/cons of this setup pretty well. There's a guy near me who is parting out his 690, it has me thinking I should snag his dash as a spare, haha!

Yeah I dunno, maybe if you can get it cheap enough. But this experience has kinda made me think they're not very durable, so the TT may be a better long term solution 🤷‍♂ cheers

Yeah that thing has a gear indicator aye, was looking at those

To avoid getting hazard lights put a diode on the end of each indicator wire before you join then to the one dash lamp

I was going to try that, I even have some diodes here somewhere, but by that stage I didn't care anymore just wanted to get it done and go riding 😅 Might have another look on a day when I'm really bored lol

If still interested. Find an electronics shop that fixes circuit boards and see if they can have a look at the dash for you.

Great stuff mate awesome to see it alive again , with the indicator light could you throw a diode on each feed wire so it won't back feed to the indicators to create hazards and this way you can only use 1 light like you want ... Just a thought for you 👍

KTM needs to give these bikes a better dash like the 698 Mono has.

I haven't seen those but yeah the ones on the later model 690s are pretty crap, taken straight off the enduro models. Upside is they're probably a lot more durable.

I could have found a used genuine one here in Europe for less than your vapor and send it to you (just checked found 3 around me). A lot of features missing from the vapor for that high price IMHO

Yeah the thing is tho they must be pretty fragile man, I don't mind most of the missing stuff (still more features than the EXC style dashes they have on the newer 690s) and I'm hoping this will be a bit more durable 🤞 Cheers Oli

So you did put the washer in the ABS sensor, you never replied when I recommended this! Did it deactivate both front and rear ABS?

So the hipe on these instruments is overrated. I thought these units where plug and play. A direct replacement. Was it worth the saving, keeping in mind the functions you no longer have available?

Definitely not plug n play, although to get the unit working itself with all it's own sensors is not really difficult, it's the optional indicator light dashboard thing and wiring all those up that can become the nightmare. I think it's worth doing though based on how flimsy and prone to shitting themselves those stock units seem to be 🥴 But then if it ain't broke, no need to fix it...

Did you work out why the old one broke Josh? Looked like a light crash.
