I had the pleasure of meeting Mr.Hines in the 90s while working at a Hotel. Hines was in town filming "A Rage in Harlem". I was the Doorman so I would speak with him daily and he was very friendly and always asked us how we were doing. After a couple weeks I asked Mr. Hines if he could sign something for my Grandmother Mary Lou. My shift was over and my Grandparents were meeting me to go to dinner and were standing a half a block down the street. I motioned to them one moment. Mr. Hines said of course to signing the autograph and then I mentioned that her down the street and he took off running to her calling her name "Mary Lou, Mary Lou I have your autograph" and then gave her a big hug. Boy oh boy was she beaming the rest of the night. I like to think they met again in Heaven and laughed about it. It's a great memory for me. RIP Grandmother and Mr. Gregory Hines.

Gregory Hines has never been spotlighted as he should. He was a true performer. Multi talented and one the greatest personalities ever. He was a triple threat (dancer, singer and actor) and was sooo entertaining to watch. The electrifying vibe between him and the late great Sammy Davis Junior was amazing. The current generation truly missed something great
Remember Gregory Hines? I'll never forget him. I absolutely adored him! RIP Gregory. I miss you. 😢

He and his family Lived right next to my grandparents and parents in Harlem. They were all very close net families. My grandmother remembers him growing up and playing with my parents. I met him when I was very young, but I was too young to know anything back in those days. He hung out mostly with my uncle and aunt Shirley.🤷🏼

He was a sweet charming brother. What a gentleman he was. I danced with him, one Easter Sunday, at the Audubon Ballroom. My friends and I walked through Mt. Morris Park, which is now named Marcus Garvey Park. There, we would see him practicing tap dance with his brother. We all loved him. Much respect, RIP🙏🏿💖
He could sing too! Back in the day. our parents helped us develope our talent. When family came to visit we were expected to show and tell. Our parents and family and friends loved to seeus display our talents as young people. That is how alot of us over came our shyness at an early age😮!😅😊

Oh no, I never knew Mr. Hines was battling with liver illness. Wow. So sad. RIP Mr. Gregory 🙏
I became a fan in 1963 I guess. I remember watching Hines, Hines and Dad on our black and white t.v. and being mesmerized. I took tap and ballet as a child but watching them dance was a whole new level of beauty! I was shocked when Gregory passed. Loved him on Will and Grace.❤
Multi talented Gregory Hines. Loved the video of him and Sammy Davis tap dancing together. Not long after Sammy died.r
One of the most talented stars - ever! He could do it all & sooo easy on the eyes. Anytime I saw that he was in a movie - no matter how lame the movie was - I was mesmerized by him. I remember when it was “Hines, Hines and Dad” - he was just amazing

Dating myself here. I remember the show, Hines, Hines And Dad.
I'm an older dude. But I fell I love with this guy when the movie" Wolfen" came out. He was different from a lot of the black male actors I had seen. He didn't tap in that movie. I didn't know anything about him being a dancer. His Afro was just INSANE to me. And he had this kind of laid back hipness to him. Like he knew something that everyone else didn't. I'm gonna keep this short, I'm not at the eulegy, but this guy ment a lot to me. A lot. R.I.P. Gregory. ....❤😂❤❤. I swear I could do an HOUR on this. Say high to my MOM when you see HER. Tell LIZ I say kisses💋💋💋❤️ Peace.
This was a very positive video!!! Nothing negative at all. Thank you!!!💜💜💜
He was truly a treasure with talent and Glamour ❤❤❤
I first saw him in the Los Angeles production of Sophisticated Ladies at the Dorothy Chandler pavilion in 1982, he was magic. I enjoyed him in the occasional movie, and laughed hard when he had an ongoing role on Will & Grace. But I got to meet him and talk to him several times at St. Monica's Catholic Church Sunday evenings waiting for mass to begin. (You had to go early if you wanted a good seat!) By that point he was very skinny and obviously unwell, but he still had his warm, welcoming smile and still cracked wry jokes. I was sad when I later heard he had passed away. He was truly a gift and he never stopped giving.
I remember when him and his brother were little boys and came on TV shows.❤
This is the genuine grassroots type of positive energy and inspiration that came from that era...it uplifted, gave hope to and inspired future stars to emerge. These days you get your soul snatched and devoured by the demonic narcissistic clutches of Hollyweird
Salute Mr. Gregory Hines ❤ Rip great dancer of our time Smooth , cool and calm with his moves > so powerful ✔️ Omg he is truly missed 💯 % Strong Black ⚫️ man. Never forgotten in our culture Hollywood/music industry made alot of 💰 off his NAME!
There was always something real and otherworldly about Mr Hines. He had this incredible charisma that made people not just like him but love him. He made them feel safe. What a great talent gone. 👊🏿

“Running Scared” is one of my favorite movies. I was six years old when the movie debuted and I’m not even sure how I was able to watch it. Micheal McDonald’s “Sweet Freedom,” and the corresponding music video still make me feel so upbeat. Just a great actor.🙏🏽

A life well lived and a talent which we will likely never see again. He received the torch from Sammy Davis and lived up to the legend. RIP Mr. Hines. You are truly missed.
I used to see Gregory Hines in midtown NYC in the 90's . I used to see him so much that my he always acknowledged me , and I acknowledged him . People would see me speak to him and thought I knew him. It wasn't that I worked for different businesses in midtown. The last time I saw him he was going to the knick game. I worked at 2 Penn Plaza so the garden is right behind were I worked. He spoke to me as usual, I spoke to him. That was the last time I ever saw him. He was very approachable, and very nice, he was so humble. As big as a star as he was you would think he would be rude. I met many other entertainers and they were rude. Gregory Hines was totally the opposite. Nice guy , at least he was to me .
I can never ever forget him, I always love that him dearly

My family had a chance to play Family Feud but the last question was name a famous tap dancer. My dad insisted on Bill Bojangles Robinson was the right answer. I said he was living long ago and people now may not know of him so it’s Gregory Hines I said. The answer was Gregory Hines.
