This is a really sad story. Merlin lost his life but 2 careers died that day. Brandon was in his prime at the time as well, but never acted again after his friend's death.

I grew up with both of them (on TV not reality of course) and I always wondered if that incident scarred Brandon badly, because he seemed to be on the up and then nothing after Santana was killed. A fkd up day for late 90s 2000s kids and fam/friends. I remember.

Woman? She was a 15 year old girl. He really did commit statutory rape cause 15 year olds can't consent. He definitely played his part in his own demise because he shouldn't have been with that young girl. I don't believe men when they say they don't know that these young girls aren't of legal age. And there are more men that actually sxlly assault wmen and children than any girl/boy/wman lying but that's a whole other issue.🥴

On a night he wasn’t even supposed to be there. Ugh it still breaks my heart. He didn’t deserve to go out like that. I bet he would’ve been so great if he was still here 😞 the girl who put those men up to this should’ve gotten the most time if you ask me. I remember this story and the response it got. I remember the media trying to paint him as someone from the streets and Steve Harvey came out and fiercely defended him and his character. He said “That boy was not a thug! He wasn’t from the streets!” I don’t know if you’re familiar with the “Moesha Curse,” but I had no idea that Brandon was with him in the car. Brandon, like Merlin, played one of Moesha’s love interests on the show. The show itself has a reputation for being doomed because many of the cast members died unexpectedly.

What a talent! I remember when I first heard of his death--I was shocked. I watched him all the time on the Steve Harvey Show. He was going places. He could have been doing big movies and even had music out by now. Thank you for bringing this to us! RIP Merlin....
