I live in Burnsville, MN and our local media stated today that we will learn the name of the shooter sometime later this week. This is a horrible tragedy for our little city, the families of the fallen and for first responders everywhere. I don’t care what color the shooter was. Violence happens in all races. I’m so thankful the 7 children made it out safely.

To those asking, there are local media agencies that have sources giving this as the person that committed this crime. He has an extensive criminal background, is a felon, and should have never had guns. He had restraining orders against him for domestic violence as well.

There are local news reports. He has a history of domestic violence and was denied after a petition to get his gun rights back. And he's black, that's why there are no pictures being shown.

It's insensitive to say "it could have been worse" when the family of those that have been taken are experiencing the worst heartbreak.

No it isn't. My family suffered a double murder/ suicide on Christmas eve and it could have been much worse if it had happened just a few hours later when the rest of the family was scheduled to arrived for Christmas dinner.

As a former CPS worker in NYC. We went into situations like this . The only difference they involved children . I think back to that early part of my career and realize how many risks I took to check on the children . I didn’t that’s a taser a gun or a baton. Just my ID and training …

In this day and age, as soon as your children leave the home they are either in immediate danger or are the cause of someone else's immediate danger. The good ole days of being safe in this country are long long gone.

As a former EMT, I grieve for all families that involved. And also everyone there. I went to my share of these calls, and even though I waited for either the Police Sheriff's deputies. I never felt safe until after the call was over. And even then, I stayed aware of what went on around me for several days afterwards. I learned a big lesson on a suspected overdose, thinking that I would find the patient need of immediate help I approached the residence and the supposed victim shove a 9 mm in my face. It is certainly tragic that people lost their lives, and I pray that the families will be able to recover without much difficulty. Domestic calls are very deadly.

I feel bad about the lost paramedic, they're only supposed to arrive on the scene when things are quiet and safe. Someone gave him the all clear at a shooting. Does this mean the shooter shot someone, hid, waited for the police to arrive, waited long enough for the paramedics. Then shot them all?

Please pray for our fallen first responders and their families. Also, lift up prayers for the communities of Burnsville and surrounding cities. Burnsville is a large suburb of St. Paul and Minneapolis, and many responders came from other cities close by. As of Monday at 1:30pm, no other information has been released.

I kinda think it might be helpful to have a national registry of domestic abusers. That way, when the police get a call on a domestic, the address they live at and their name come up if they are a prior offender so the police know more about the situation before responding. Also would be helpful for women avoiding men like that. (Or men avoiding abusive women as well)
