Traditional Higo No Kami Japanese knife design and a modern take by Kansei Matsuno

Музыка

The Higo No Kami knife dates to the late 19th century. Despite being a friction folder with no lock, these are very useful utility blades that get great slicing performance from the laminated steel. Böker Plus offers a more modern take on the traditional design, from Kansei Matsuno. These feature pocket clips, thumstuds and a liner lock, with VG-10 steel.

The cutout on the Higo is a Lotus I believe.

You can modify the originals and finish them nicely. From the factory they are very rough. Pivot is fully adjustable with a precise hammer. Squeeze it in a machine vice and flatten the brass bend to the blade. Mine are now very precise and have wood stops inside. The tang is also sharp and can be de-burred with a machine file for a nicer feel. Just dont remove all the mill scale because then it wont look authentic. I also made spyderco style pocket clips for a few out of heavy gauge piano wire and stainless hardware, heat treated of course. Sharpen with traditional Japanese methods for best results.
