I think my favorite part of the movie is seeing Sissy Spacek in many characters. Just glad none of the moms were scorned teen seeking revenge on her bullies for ruining her dream prom moment.

My brother "nannied" the Metchik brothers when we were in the US in 1993/94. We attended the premier of this movie and got to sit with all the actors. It was quite a big deal for 2 young South Africans like us to experience the Hollywood vibe!

Anna Chlumsky does a good job--she was great in My Girl too

The best mum is the one who God chooses for you... either by birth or adoption. My best mum was the one I got when my biological parents signed away their parental rights and I was adopted.

I saw Trading Mom and I also saw Elijah Wood when he was still a child actor, when he starred in the movie, North, both of these two movies are based on the fantasy idea of being able to choose your family. Of course, you can choose your friends, but you cannot choose your family. However, even so the perfect parents do not exist. So even if you could choose your family, you would sooner or later be disappointed with your choice, want to divorce the family you chose, and try to choose another family. This is because we live in a terrible, tough-as-nails, real life universe, that is just like how it is in the terrible tough-as-nails, parallel universe of Game of Thrones. We do not live in the utopian, happy parallel universe of a TV show such as Leave it to Beaver, The Andy Griffith Show, Mayberry R.F.D., The Partridge Family, and of course, The Brady Bunch! In our terrible real life, tough-as-nails universe and also in the terrible, tough-as-nails parallel universe of Game of Thrones, there is absolutely no such thing as the perfect family!

Great fantasy with a motto…appreciate the mom you have!!!

There are kids in warzone that suddenly lose their moms. If you have one, take good care of her.

Sissy Spacic is amazing playing all those parts!

Granted, it's a kids movie, but it seems they've confused the definition of Mother with Servant...Kids naivete and gullibility all rolled into ONE!

I always wanted to trade in my 2 kids. I wish there was a kid store. In thier late 30's and full of drama. SNL did a skit on trading kids. Lol What a fun movie, the 3 moms they picked were a handful! Great acting by all. I enjoyed it. 👍🎬

Anna Chlumsky literally WAS the most adorable/prettiest child actor. I loved her portrayals of Vada in the "My Girl" movies.

"I'm just a kid! I don't know!" This line from oldest daughter sums up the point of the movie. Children think they want to be in charge and that the rules and restrictions placed by loving parents are meaningless nonsense that adults just randomly make up in order to make kids lives miserable. In reality-rules, regulations, and guidelines are constructed in order to keep our children safe from the many dangers that are out there that kids don't even know exist. Children's lives are improved by caring adults who impose common-sense rules. They understand this as they gain more experience. Those who actually watch the movie to the end will see that the message is a decent one. Unfortunately, the movie is not as good as it could have been, considering who the actors are.. Still, it is a fair family film.

That and the line “it’s hard to figure out who your mother is” (or something to that effect) type thing. It sent me back 😭 my mama lived a hard life. I don’t ask myself why she was always tired and kinda grouchy all the time. She fought hard to be happy. I could take notes from her book, for sure. I will forever respect my mom and even more after watching this movie. Oh to be a kid again.

That was a good movie all around but the 2 parts of silence in the movie were quite aggravating

I love movies like these where they use to make movies where children make their family disappear it’s a rip off of Home Alone and Big because when I mean by Big they make a wish for their mom to be gone and they pick a mommy with tokens. They don’t make movies like this anymore even if they did make movies like this the 90’s version were so much better. I still love this movie it’s fun.

Definitely not a classic but perhaps a movie that children might enjoy. Maybe that's why Sissy Spacek decided to do it.

This is the worst children's movie I have ever seen. The kids in the movie are too spoilt, lazy, unappreciative of their mum, arrogant. I especially hate when young children are made to think, reason, and behave like adults (the case of the youngest one here) which is unnatural and annoying. Let kids be kids! American kids are all "geniuses" ( or what American movies are trying to convince viewers). I hate that.
