Ойын-сауық

Trader Joe's is a big grocery store chain. And I'm just one guy. But I have heart, determination, the skill, and the will!! I eat up even more of TJ's canned fish. Who's gonna win this fight???
On test:
Trader Joe's Skinless & Boneless Sardines in Olive Oil
Trader Joe's Mediterranean Dorade Gilthead Bream Fillets in Olive Oil

I have to say, I wasn’t expecting much from this review (fillets aren’t really my thing), but the canned Dorado turned out to be a real show. Dorado or “Orada” as we call it here is a common fish in the Adriatic sea as well. It’s commonly prepared fresh (grilled). I have never seen it canned like that. But it does look delicious. Thanks for the review Matthew! 🐟

Thanks for the tip. Tried the skinless and boneless sardines in olive oil. The oil helps and they're decent. Tastes like an everyday brand of tuna so it probably will taste better on crackers, which I have. They have a decent amoutn of taste and are reasonably flaky. Overall, for the very low price, I rate them an easy 9 out of 10. Just wish they were a bit more flaky or delicate.

I think I like the mackerel a bit more than you did. I agree it's not fantastic, but it's a good amount of fish if I'm looking for a proteinaceous lunch. I usually keep a can or two around. I did get the dorade bream and it I wasn't sure what to make of it. It was much bonier than I thought it would be. I picked out the bones, unsure if they were ok to eat. Nice enough. I'm glad I tried it, but not sure if I'd get another one. Good point about Trader Joe's being a bit bland in the tinned fish department. So, after me binging on so many (all) of your excellent videos my feeling is - we need to update your video intro from "What are we doing here" to "where are we going from here" or "how do we get out of here". @@CannedFishFiles Hey Matthew , I love tinned fish (King O Wildies 2X layers) , but I am also a huge sucker for a jar of pickled herring. So much so , I pulled a simple pickling recipe off u tube and tried making gigantic jar myself. I am on miami beach and herring is not a local fish so I substituted fresh caught tilapia. After a ton of work and a week wait time plus near divorce , I finally ended up with a good plate of firm tasty pickled fish. Talapia are not as oily / fatty as herring so there was a different taste & texture to adapt to. So "why was I there" or why did I do that? H'mmm interesting question , I did not anticipate you asking me that ! Back in the day I could get good pickled herring for $ .99 cents a jar and now it is close to $10.00 for a smaller jar , plus the store bought varieties have a ton of salts which I need to moderate. So there you are , not alone in the world - but among kindred spirits and thousands of crazy fish stories. Cheers Matthew : - ))

@@joedonzi9552 Way to go taking matters into your own hands. I don't love tilapia, but to be honest, so much of it sold is farm-raised, maybe I haven't had the good stuff. The store-bought Vita brand herring is very salty. Don't know if it was you, but a lot of people have been asking for a pickled herring review.
