Our red clay fields are the same way, when it rains you count the number of days it rained in a row and then when it stops raining you don't drive anything heavy out in the field for those number of days after it stopped raining. The fields go from being like concrete when it doesn't rain to quicksand when it does rain.

I have a square metal grate from a catwalk on a constriction site. Place the metal grate under one drive wheel in low gear and creep out of the hole. Works great and is portable, drag behind the truck from the barn to the stuck vehicle. The key is to be in first gear and creep out of the hole.

Wow! You were VERY LUCKY that the broken timber did not rip the rear tire right off of the rim!!! But it is a great video showing how one can get unstuck. Thanks!!!

It is easy to watch the video from 1000 miles away and find fault. You did right. We viewers cant see the whole picture from the cameras point of view. Don't let the critics get you down.

The next day Cowboy got stuck again, and that time Cowboy had to do it all by himself. Breaking two 4 x6's finally getting out with 6x6's. The front of this tractor is real heavy with the fwd running gear and loader, notice the front didn't lift at all. However a previous poster is correct, going backwards is always safer. Thank you Milo for posting this and thank everyone for their comments, yourtube is a blast.

I guess I'm allowed to speak. We've had rain for the past week and a lot of it, when it came to feeding cows, the skid loader (Its a skid loader, not a bobcat, that is its a new holland brand) kept getting stuck, all it took was the Oliver 1750 to get it out. But that didn't solve the problem of getting hay bales. I really wish tire companies still made steel wheels for everything.

We were having fun getting the tractor unstuck. I tried working myself out with the bucket and got 6 feet forward and thought I had it but then had a deep hole in front of the tractor that I could no longer touch ground with the bucket. Cowboy in hat found this solution on youtube (someone else idea not mine. We wrapped a chain around the wheel and board through spaces in the rim. The board on the left side broke because it was just a 4x4 and cedar at that.

Got my Case tractor stuck today. It broke through what looked like dry ground near the edge of a swamp. Fortunately I have a backhoe and outriggers on it. But the outrigger cylinder blew apart just as I was putting it down. No problem I thought, I will just turn off the tractor, ratchet up the outrigger and use the backhoe to get myself out. Well, my battery then died. Tonight we will have heavy thunderstorms and tomorrow have more rain. Going to have to do some more thinking to get out of this mess 😞. Your video gave me some ideas. It has been a tough day and I feel your pain on this one.

I'm sure the board wasn't supposed to break, but RR ties are heavy! It looks like they had the differential lock on so both wheels turned the same. If so, as long as one wheel as traction they'll get out. Also, I seriously doubt you'd snap the axle doing anything like this -- maybe if you were pulling something really heavy but even so you'd probably stall the engine or slip the clutch long before an axle gave.

lot of work to chain that wood up like that .Just put 1 6x6 cross ways in front of 1 rear tire and lop the chain around 6x6 and tractor tire. Put diff lock on and slowly drive ahead. Wheel will lift right out of hole. PS watch out for valve stem.

That's a good way to FLIP a tractor too. That's why the manual tells you to never do this. Should've never got it that deep. When you're stuck quit digging yourself deeper.

Why did the left side board break, was that supposed to happen ? Or was that the side with all the traction and thats why the board broke . Also if you put the extra effort in it would rail road ties do better or would they snap the axle .

Very smart way of puncture the tyre(s). I bet with just laying those beams under the tyres and with a little help from that truck you would pull it out too.

  • @komerwest9520

Nope all you would do is spin on the beams as they would get covered in mud. They did it right.

Yes, they did it right. The biggest risk in this method is that if the driver isn't careful the tractor may flip over. But this tractor seems to be heavy from the front end, and the beams broke, so no problem at all.

1255XL did that 28 years ago using one big corner post, lowest gear diff lock ,worked a treat ,Sum of the old timers used to put a beam between the rear wheels across at the front then drop the clutch and jump it out ,was risky because no creeper gears ,Massive rear wheels that if you didn't stop again straight away then the beam would carry on around and take ur head off ,Not for the faint hearted Cheers From New Zealand

I remember as a kid seeing a Cat scraper stuck so bad, they had to wait 'til the ground dried and then it drove out. Here's a forklift hint: Small, solid-tired lift trucks have little off-road capability. If the drive wheels lose traction, the wheels can be lifted by tilting the mast all the way back and placing wood under it. Then, tilt it back forward and if done right, wheels will come up allowing traction aids (read: wood) to be placed under drive tires. Love your Flintstone technology!

My question is how in the world did you even get that tractor THAT stuck to begin with, in the middle of all that dry grass and on level ground??... I like how they didn't show anything about how it got stuck in the first place, OR trying to get out with only the tractor's power itself first... I smell something fishy going on here! Lol!

Taking risks with your equipment (aka livelihood) so you do less work (aka lazy)? Not at all like the farmers i know, although they actually live off their farms and usually can't afford to play around like this instead of working... Maybe it's more of a hobby for you or something, which if that's the case, it does seem a really labor free way to get it done quickly...
