Tracking down the packs
A large pack of dogs had been seen but there was bound to be others as well. The job was to now track down those packs and get our trapline set.
This is always the toughest part but also the best challenge.

I love it when the Tuesday edition of Clark's rural exploits comes around like a breath of fresh outback air: common sense and no bull dust.

WHERE'S THE CRUISER DUAL CAB?
We had dingoes settled in the area and since then no wild dog problem and no stock attacked

Brace yourself
Maybe you could try night vision and post up by one of the dead beasts to get more dingos
Woof

G'day Clark I've often wondered what the lifespan of these commercial lures are wondering if you have an opinion on this.

Some get better with age while others deteriorate quickly. The better they are made, the better they last usually. If stored where they get a lot of heat, they seem to go quickly.
I've heard that some predator species are getting smart and skinning the cane toads, leaving the poison sacks alone and eating the rest, is that right?

Sure is. Often see crows eat them out from the mouth, while the Frogmouth seems to slit open their bellies.
Pay to set a double chook feathers smear a bit of the fishing scents on it squid base ones are good.

22:00 I suppose there are 2 ways to look at that situation. You could say rotten luck because the cattle wrecked your sets and robbed you of potentially 4 catches (would all 4 have gotten caught? ) or great luck brcause you had 4 wrecked sets but were still able to get one dog with the rifle.

Got one that hadn't buggered off on arrival, at least 3 others educated to vehicles, & maybe traps and firearms. Will be interesting how that 75% reacts (if identifiable) to subsequent control efforts.
Have you tried a predator call ? Just curious if that might help. Good luck 👍

Use them wen needed. Biggest issue is if 3-4 or more dogs come I at the same time. One gets shot, maybe two then the rest get smarter. In some areas, where calls have been used a lot, dogs simply turn tail and run when they hear one.

@ClarkMcGhiesWildCountry .Might bring some help another person who can help take care of them. We have predators here . They can be tricky. Best of luck 👍.

@@ClarkMcGhiesWildCountry Why I asked when I left Tenterfield mid sixties the Land owners were having more problems with wild feral dogs not the dingoes
Can someone. PLEASE. Pay attention? I offer consulting to rid any area of foxes/coyotes/canine-type animals. No poison. No shooting. No trapping. And requiring very little sweat. The requirement is to come into contact with someone in National or Provincial government. Who has the problem at heart. cares about the farmers. To do the consultation to.
Less ya got the 1 dog n spooked the rest..seems your dog's over heat n go straight to water..wouldn't be a very good working dog's laying in melon holes or finding water n not chasing sheep..
Travelling Oz soon, all over. If you'd like some help i can do full night work. I have infra-red.
