Very nice. For North American people, this video can apply to Toyota Echo, Yaris, Scion xB, xD too as they all use the same suspension pieces. Not sure about Corollas and Matrix though Edit: I confirm that Echo/Yaris rear springs are different from Matrix/Corolla/Vibe.

@@DriveShifty honestly this video was a great help. I live in a snowy area and in winter, roads are very salty. For that bolts, nuts were quite rusty and some of them broke. But thankfully, I got the front on and for the rear, the springs did not fit because I bought the wrong part. Anyways, great video. Liked

Thank man! It's how I learned to do it. I just watched youtube videos and followed them! I've been watching loads of stuff on plastering walls and home inprovements and I'm now gonna give that a go. Saves a tone of money plus you can get it to a standard that you want

Ya same suspension for the most part and the echo

Man very clean and straightforward to the point! Appreciated, no need to pay for this, looks quite doable, I had the impression that could be dangerous and these springs can bounce and can hurt etc. But as long as the weight is taken out of it, there is no stress on them!

@@DriveShifty I would actually love to hear your experience(if any) about the electric windows in general electric system in yaris 2004, I just bought one today was quite cheap and tbh no prior experience in any other sense than driving it. Have to fix them. the right windows doesn't response to up down button either from driver side or the passenger side. How would you approach it to fix?(I'm aware a very generic question) but in case if you had any experience would love to hear it.

@@Tinnitussss The only experience with the windows on my Yaris I've had is them going up and down 😂😥 I would start off at the switches like. A multi meter is your friend! Good practice to learn how one works as well. Check that the switches are still working with a continuity test. If that's fine make sure it's getting power to it. There will be one wire on the switch plug. Learn that with a multi meter and you have just figured out how to fix a lot of electrical things 😂 Most likely the switch has probably had water gone down it and it's corroded something inside of the switch. Also... There is a lock for the window switches. Always check daft things

@@DriveShifty I have a 2007 yaris these are good cars I have done my rear shocks at nearly 200000 it's still on the original rear and front springs and front shocks these cars last well its passed every mot no faults just great little cars. Great video and your getting a big thumbs up 👍from me. Very well done Keep goin and keep them coming.

@@mattlawton4715 After 150,000 miles and 200,000 I think, toyota have a cool thing where you tag them on a photo of your milage and they then send out a sticker! I think it's called the high mileage club

@@DriveShifty haha yea i did the shocks yesterday... that was pretty easy... the rear i didnt even take off the wheels... just jacked it up. mine is riding much stiffer than i anticipated almost feels like a coilover. yea i kind regret selling the MR2 but i have some other plans in the works. cheers!

So glad I came across this video! I need all 4 coil springs replaced (I think) on my yaris. Will do it myself. How much should it cost per coil? Looking for a normal coil not lowered (I'm young so don't want the police stopping me).

I know that feeling! I've ran lowering springs and have never been pulled over buy I do live in a place where you rarely see them! Not sure how much they will be but I will give you some tips on finding cheap parts. Best place to start is sites like Eurocarparts or carparts4less. You just plug your number plate in and it will give you a few options. Also on eurocarparts always check the price of stuff WITH THE DISCOUNT CODE. They always seem to have bumped up prices but once the discount code is applied it bring it back down. Then have a quick look on ebay. Sometimes you will find a really good deal on there and it's always worth a try! Make sure you have some spring compressors. You don't want the old springs flying into space haha. Good luck!

Hey man! It sounds like you need to put the screws into it. The same way as the cubby pocket came out. Use the same loction and bolts and screw then into the holes on the radio. Make sure the screws are not to long

Friend, notice that I have a toyota echo 2005 hatchback, rear and front shock absorbers and spirals were replaced, as well as steering terminals and crutches, but the vehicle even when passing on a bad road the shock is felt, it does not absorb the bumps, what could be the problem?

Hi there! It is always hard to understand someones problem just from a message haha. I think that the spring and shocks could be just to stiff for you. They will wear in after a few miles and get a bit softer. I would check your tyre pressures as they also could be to inflated. Hope this helps

Hi there! I just went on ebay and searched up yaris shock absorbers! The ones I put on were KYB's on the front. If you are in the UK then try having a look at sites like Demon Tweeks and Fensport! They do more of your upgraded shocks and stuff

I'd like to know are there some sort of quality aftermarket absorbers and springs for MK1 available these days...

@@institorisinstitoris959 Spring wise Tein. Tried and tested. Dampers just replace for new standard ones. KYB is a good brand. Most of the time the old ones on these cars are toast so just putting new ones on it an upgrade!

Hi there! I used Tein springs that are 35mm lower on the front adn 37mm on the back. I have no issus with wheel clearance or anything like that. I have 195/50/15 tyres on and no spacers! Hope this helps

@@ioannispavlidis5385 If it's the standard 14" wheels then they will be no problem. I started of with 14's. The tyres size I have now (195/50/15) are very close in all over size to the old tyre I had (185/65/14) so that should give you a good idea of what they would be like. I don't feel as if the car would have any problem with 40mm lowering springs. People run them way lower with coilovers. Yeah it helps with body roll haha. A good video to watch of mine is the mod you should do to your yaris (Cheeky plug). I go over most of my mods that I have done to help the car!

Spring can snap from harsh bumps or pot holes. They can over a long time start to sag and lose there spring. The car would be very noticeable lower on one corner. If a shock is blown then the car will be very bouncy. When you hit a bump in the road, the car will bounce after it even know you are not hitting any bumps. It will feel like your on a boat. They will leak there fluid from inside. If you want to see some extreme cases on blown shocks then KZread and watch some videos of it. Hope this helps

Sub frame! There is a tube that comes down and I put it on that. It's a bit bashed in these days but it seem strong enough!

Yeah, scion xB, xD, Echo, Yaris have the same suspension parts so it will be very easy to access those parts

Is... is that... a 1.0L? Not knocking it, I just find it amusing that yet again, I find a Yaris with loaded rear beam (that bar running through your rear torsion beam). The North American market never got that on the Echo, and we only ever got the "big" 1.5L. I hate how much they knee capped our cars for handling and performance.... I asked in another video of yours what struts you ended up using in terms of KYB, and I see it's the Excel G like they sell here (since in that video you mentioned Bilsteins, which aren't even an option here). The joys of other markets!

It's a 1.3L T spirit which is a step down from a T sport. I also have a SR which is the same as a T Spirit just a non face lift model and that also has a loaded rear beam. I wasn't aware of the loaded rear beams as I've not had a bogo yaris. I wouldn't know if they it was a high spec option. The UK likes a "sporty" hatchback so I would think that they would all have them. I know in the EU there was an ECO model and it came thing nothing. No loaded rear beam

Thank man! It took me about 2 hours but I've done it many times before. Also my bolts are not to rusty as some can be. For your first time doing it, it will take a bit longer but as the video shows it's not that difficult

Its just that in all instructions manuals e.g. haynes it never misses to say that instalation is the reverse of the removal and now i see that many people think its important to make that clear. But still i cant remember the time that i had to install something in a way that wasn't really the reverse of the removal. Just that😁

@@shahrobrajput8868 Not sure what they are all called over where you live but I sure there isn't a RS Version. The highest spec mk1 yaris in the uk is the T Sport which comes with the 1.5 liter engine

FFS it is as well. The weight of the car was still on the jack at that point. Aye don't do this. Work on a level floor and not have this problem

@@DriveShifty not hating on you man but cutting corners, half assing and complacency gets you seriously injured or dead. A 21 year old maybe younger mechanic local to where i grew up... awesome mechanic, worked on heavy machinery, was working on such like mentioned. No one had seen or heard from him. Found with a vehicle parked on his chest. Either the jack gave or what was assumed, he reached for something and somehow released the jack. As in, he was so complacent he didn't even pull out an axle stand.. Boom, found 2-3 days later. Poor fucker couldn't even scream for help. Sad like.
