@Laid Back Racing not exactly. It’s more interesting, because it shows you what you can do yourself in your garage! I know it’s easier to just buy a proper track tool to go fast, but I can assure you that building your own car with friends is heaps more fun than just buying something off the showroom! And yes, technical problems do arise, because you don’t have a multi-million development team behind you. But for me at least, the moment you fix a problem like this is incredibly satisfying!

There is something about these cars that makes them more fun from a driving standpoint - for me, anyway. You, the driver, have to be on top of the car. You have to figure it out and adjust to get the most out of it. The inputs are all yours and you have to work through the things it doesn't do very well and make the most of the things it does.Doing a good lap in something this basic, in my opinion anyway, is more satisfying than doing a good lap in a car with all the bells and whistles. I enjoy the hell out of these laps!

These are the builds that dreams are made of. Ambitious yet broke lads looking to go as fast as possible for the least amount of money. I love it.
So the old banger has 274K on the clock and they strap a T04 on and go to a track - brilliant! This is typical 90's Toyota quality; it's transformed into a very fast little hot hatch after most cars at that mileage have died.... Dirt cheap enjoyment, thanks for uploading!

I used to own an EP82 Starlet GT with a TD04 turbo upgrade, about 15 years ago. The thing was a weapon on the track. Super light and the power to weight ratio was enough to keep up with most cars on the straight. Nice surprise, seeing one on this channel!

Need more builds like this on the channel more people can afford and do this kinda stuff. Also nice little pocket rocket.
That's a great car. You can surprise a lot of people with it. That engine sounds great at the high rpm and is pulling great.
What a little weapon. There is something so refreshing about laps with such cars. It's an adventure kind of thing. You never know what's gonna happen next. I forgot if George still has his Glanza or he sold it. That thing is a proper beast.
Mod list is pretty respectable, and the power is actually plenty. One thing I'm asking myself though with all those boosted cars we've seen on this channel that overheat on average into half a lap - what is the power supposed to be for? Traffic light drag racing only? Because if it overheats into half of a Nordschleife lap, it sure as hell can't take any Autobahn runs or mountain passes or basically anything else that's fun either.

@@sighheinrich yeah you could probably have some fun with sporadic overtakes on B roads with a car like this. Takes more than a small oil cooler though probably to make it Nordschleife ready, even just 1 lap - I mean, it overheated after a quarter of a lap or so.

it really hadn't been tested on a track, and its my daily driver so when just driving in denmark and some b roads it really never over heated, so on the way to nurburgring on the autobahn it started to overheat, plus it was a really hot summer so that didn't help, BUT it has an 19 row oil cooler installed now :)

Great to see a EP91 on the channel being a fellow owner! They always struggle with cooling on track, as most owners fit a small rad to fit the turbo which causes issues. Full width, good quality radiator is a must. Oil cooler is helpful, but oil at 120-125 is fine. Only if you’re seeing 130+ for sure needed. If all else fails, do a me and fit a Honda K20 😆 Hopefully one day I can get it finished and bring it over for Misha to have a go!
