Toyota Lexus Serpentine Belt 3.5L Remove and Replace-RX350
Спорт
See how I handle removal and installation on the serpentine drive belt for Toyota and Lexus vehicles. Shown is a 2007 Lexus RX350 but the process is similar on many vehicles. Links below.

Pay attention. In the video, roughly, where "the special tool" is inserted into the wrench, in the tensioner, you can see a small hole. There is slot behind it in the tensioner body. Release tensioner and slide a 4 or 5mm hex wrench or a rod into the hole - AND IT HOLDS TENSIONER OPEN. Also, I simply used long double box 14/16mm wrench, without any extra lever needed. Also, it's MUCH easier to get to the tensioner bolt from the bottom.
I tried replacing the serpentine belt on my 08 RX350. After jacking it up and removing the front psgr wheel and splash shield, I tried reaching for the pulleys but my arm wouldn’t fit. It looks doable but my arms say otherwise.

Vehicle mileage, and more importantly any micro cracks or issues on any part of the belt. Usually if there are some cracks there are many, all over the belt. Bending or twisting the belt with your fingers sometimes helps to see them.

With OEM Toyota belts they last along time. I’d say conservatively 10 years or 150k miles

This looks like the biggest pain the arse I’ve ever seen

There's definitely worse jobs. As for serpentine belt it's fairly typical, but does need some patience and plenty of reaching.
how did you put the belt with your tensioner locked in place? how do you go around the tensioner locked?

I didn't need to go around it on my vehicle. If yours is in the way then I guess you'd have to carefully release it, then secure it again once the belt is in ready to be put in place

@@KeithBlade thanks, I just looked at the serpentine belt routing diagram, it could come out without removing the wrench holding the tensioner in place.
