Great video, very helpful for us DIYers. Two things: 1) get a cheap holder for your phone/camera - would have saved a ton of effort and made the video 20 minutes shorter. 2) Why bother with washers to measure spacing and just use the calipers to start with.

Thanks for the feedback! I rewatched the video and I definitely did a terrible job explaining why I used the washers. The reason was because I could not get my calipers into that area. I used the washers to then measure that spacing. Take care.

@@theheavymetalslug8340 I will be making a video doing to job on a 2003 Tundra and your video will be helpful to consult. I watched that one as well. I've been working with Duane for several years now. I subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to other videos you publish.

@@TimmyTheToolman awesome! It's going to be identical to the 3rd gen 4runner including the polished surface measurements. Only difference is a longer axle which may require repositioning during pressing. The second gen tundra is a bit different and more similar to later gen Toyotas.

@@theheavymetalslug8340 I never did the job on that 100 Series Land Cruiser a couple years ago, but I now have someone local to me needing the job and I watched your video again. I will mention your channel in the video and also provide a link to your video in the video description. Thanks again for documenting this job. I especially like your technique of using the washers to figure out how far to press on the ABS tone ring and inner retainer. I was thinking I would measure and cut a piece of PVC pipe to use as a spacer to get the correct depth.

You can measure from the top of the axle down.

That is a fine suggestion and you definitely can. My initial thought is that doing that while pressing might be a bit cumbersome. It will require dismounting from the press and removal of the tool and then reinstalling the tool and back on the press to make micro-adjustments. With this technique, the correct spacing was reached as I pressed without having to stop (aside from stopping for the video).

@@leonardchinguri9288 yes, it would. just make sure you have the correct adapters. Message the ebay seller (I don't sell these) and he can give you pointers on what adapters are needed. An easy way to check is if the bearing part number matches across several models.
