I've got all my parts ordered and getting ready to do this H42 to 3spd T-case conversion. I was having some doubt whether or not the difference would be worth it but you've convinced me to go through with it. Thanks!

Good vid. You should bolt a transfer case saver on that 3sp T-case behind that V8 before you crack the case.

Yea those old magnesium cases have been known to crack

Hey man Im doing a swap close to this, i'm having a problem finding out if I need to a special flywheel. Do you have a part number for the flywheel?

I stumbled upon you a few weeks ago. Enjoy your channel and learn a lot. I have a 1970 FJ 40. I ordered a 350 create engine from Summit. My original engine was locked up.I have a three speed transmission that appears to be good. My question is if I convert to a four speed, what transmission would you recommend? I am trying to do it right but on a budget.

Hi Mark Thanks for watching If you could find a SM465 or a SM420 both are good and usually pretty easy to find the 420 is lighter and shifts fast the 465 is big and heavy but is very HD and 1st is 7:1 real deep keep the 3speed transfer case and the biggest expense is Advance Adapters adapter usually about $700 neighborhood a Toyota 4 speed the the H41 and 42 are great but very hard to find and very expensive.

do you know what the transmission number for the 3sp?

Advance Adapters has all the adapters if it does fit the split case it would say on their web site or call them they are here in Paso Robles CA

I do believe yes. I'm sure Advance Adapters would make an adapter

I am hunting for a 3-speed transfer case if you still have any.

SO let me understand this correctly if I buy the 4 Speed transmission and mate it to my 3 speed transfer case will be better then the 4 speed transfer case in driviability? WOW Man Very eye opening. Okay Ill do this instead of going with the 4 speed transfer case.

I've done 2 of them now and I sure like the extra torque, you can really feel the difference.

Habra alguna diferencia es q yo consegui una fj55 del 73 en 4,000 dolares y es de 3 velocidades pero ando pensando en comprarlo o no lo malo q los de 4 velocidades cuestas como 3,000 dolares mas pero no se si es por eso o porq estan en mejor condicion. Agradeceria tu ayuda de como te va cn la de 3 velocidades es q ya en estos dias ire a verlo

Specter Off Road sor.com has the input gear you need part # 070-10B it's it's the input gear 4speed -4/75 you may need to change the bearing too it's part # 070-08C and the input PTO gear you can use a spacer part # 070-09BS-A

The input gear and bearing are from a 9/73-4/75 Tcase

It's possible to put in a 5 speed box ??!

I really am not sure I believe there is an adapter but I am not sure about the transfer case
