I'll be honest Man if it's a Diesel engine 4 cyl with a Turbo I'll say it'll still last quite long but unsure of how the gasoline would do. But I'm pretty sure it's reliable but not as reliable as NA but with that said, my friend has a Hilux 4 Cylinder Turbocharged. Still running even with 320k mileage. I say it's not as bad as people think. But let the results and future decide if I'm wrong or not Man. Hopefully it'll be the same for this 4 cylinder

Replacing a naturally aspirated 6 cylinder engine with an inline turbo 4 cylinder and saying you get the same fuel economy under real world driving conditions is like putting in $0.50 cents into a machine and magically getting back a dollar 😆. It's just not going to happen. On paper for CAFE numbers it works great but this is going to hurt the people that buy these things down the road. Will they last?? Sure. Will they last as long as a naturally aspirated 6 cylinder?? Nope.

I have to say that the 2005 4-Runner that I used to have was probably my favorite vehicle that I've ever owned! I would have kept it for a lot longer except that I discovered the frame had rot holes and the transmission cooling line rotted a hole in it by 2015. I traded it in with only 75K miles for a Rav-4 since the new 4-Runners that year were much larger and I really didn't meed more space. It had a 6 cylinder with a lot of power! I'd get a kick out of stopping at a light with some kid next to me in a little, small sh^i box revving up like he was gonna leave me in the dust. The light turns green, and without hardly any effort he was way back there loud and getting farther behind! 😅

For towing in the smaller trucks, Hybrid AWD could make up for the turbo, but there's really no substitute for a V8 in a Tundra unless they did a supercharged V6. I don't think I've ever seen true 4WD combined with Hybrid AWD before though.

We bought a 2015 4 runner Trail premium new. Has 100k on it no problems. we surprisingly get 26MPG on the highway. Probably wouldn't have bought it if I knew it had the cartridge filter. I do most of the maintenance myself like brakes tune ups oil changes. I changed the oil 2x second time got the wrench stuck on the end of the plastic filter cover. Went the dealer for a recall congratulated them for making the first vehicle that I refuse to work on. Thought about buying the adapter you had a video on but also needed a different skid plate for clearence and would be about $500. Know have a friend who owns a garage change the oil.

The second alternative is Mobil 1 extended performance with a Mobil 1 oil filter. Do the same checking oil and topping off if need be. I’m running Mobil 1 in a 2018 RAV4 hybrid. I change out the oil at 15,000 miles. Doesn’t consume oil.

Nothing has changed in 2024 models over the past 7 years to justify $10K. They got heated steering wheels now and power seats, thats doesn't cost 10 grand even with inflation.

I drive it like a truck....as my daily driver...to occasionally tow a 2,500 lb. trailer...to pull up a couple tree stumps...and to pass with authority on the highway. When I'm not towing, it averages 21-22 mpg, which, for its multipurpose capability, is fine with me. The ONLY thing I don't like about it is that stupid oil filter canister! It's messy and a significant waste of time every oil change!

I just (27Jan2024) bought a Tacoma V6 TRD Off Road Access Cab because I don’t need the back seat room and like the aesthetic better and the 2024 Tacoma is going back to the Xtra Cab. I wanna know how much he charges to change the spark plugs on that Toyota V6 engine he loves so much. I was going to change them routinely on the Avalon my wife had years ago, but when I learned how much work was involved I decided to wait until it was absolutely necessary. @@Argedis , Yes, I have seen those videos and agree. The second generation Camry my wife drove for 17 years was great to maintain (DIY), but underpowered for its weight by US standards. All the cars I have owned have had four cylinder engines so I didn't mind that part, but she had owned big American cars with V8s before that so that was her biggest complaint about that Camry. She loved how it looked, how comfortably it rode, and did not mind the mushy handling, which was my least favorite thing about it. i was impressed with the design, quality of materials and manufacturing, and ease of maintenance. By the time it needed to be replaced she really wanted something roomier with MOAR POWER. The later generations of Camrys had gotten a more powerful inline four cylinder engine and more interior space, but less attractive interior materials so as to not intrude into the more recently introduced Lexus's space. In true Scotty Kilmer fashion we found a used Avalon that was a better buy than comparable Lexus models that met her demands for luxury, space, and performance. The Avalon was not bad looking, either IMO. Similar trade-offs between comfort vs. handling as the Camry, but much roomier inside while not too much larger outside. Also much better acceleration than the older Camry.
