both cars will get to your destinations daily, its not all about speed and getting there fast, both cars are beautiful and from a time ago now , A 2 B both are smooth , elegant looking fun to drive , i dont need to rev engine and waste its life, preserve yourself with the cruising attitude, i own a 2003 SE 2.0 Gk Hyundai coupe and i love the Darn car , i cant stop myself looking at it , i have a problem i absolutely maintain it to death to keep veronica running smooth with luxury regular oil changes it drives me daily to work and when i pass a celica i drool at that too especially the 1994 models also , so i disagree its not an accurate review as its not all about getting gear changes fast and in a hurry on the engine with high revs wasting fuel , its ALSO about cruising with the gear changes for economy and treating your engine with respect . MY CAR ON THE MOTORWAY IS SMOOTH LINES BABY AS IS THE TOYOTA CELICA... END OF!!!

I know what you're saying. They are both cars that can do the commute and get you to your destination, but so can a Taxi or a push bike. The Hyundai is a nice smooth ride and I was surprised by the build quality of the interior (felt well put together), but it has no 'fun' factor in my eyes. It is well built though and doesn't look too bad either.

The 2.7L has 172hp/181tq. Compared to the 2.0L's 138hp/133tq. A +25% hp and +35% tq increase. Yet the V6 only weighs 75lbs more. In fact, the engine alone is only 12lbs heavier than the 4-cylinder. Tldr: weight is a minimal complaint

@@epicraptorman The problem of this Hyundai V6 coupe, was clearly the lack of power and acceleration for a V6 engine. It kinda reminds me of the Peugeot 406 coupe V6. Both car had a V6, but were slower than the Celica TS (GTS). For a V6, a Nissan 350Z was a much better choice.

  • @epicraptorman

@@kasugakyosuke6441 the Celica GTS although more thoroughbred as a sporty car still had a weaker 0-60 time (I know it's not all about 0-60) but they truly were gutless and had no torque. I understand this V6 is underpowered by modern standards, but compared to other V6 cars at the time (excluding the Z which was truly a big deal in 03 to have a 3.5L and still have more HP than a V8 Mustang of the same year) it was decent.

@@epicraptorman These kind of cars, really don't need a lot of torque, since they're kind lightweight cars (Celica TS, Honda ITR I meant). Rather you just need to know how to use correctly a gearbox, and know how to drop a gear or two when it's needed. I had some fun before with some inline 6 BMWs 3 or 5 series, and the Celica was plenty enough to slightly get a head of them, or to keep up with them (depending on their engines). One of the best example, one of my co-worker had a bmw 330ci, and despite more power and torque than my Celica, he failed to leave me behind. I was right beside him all the way until 160/170 km/h, we had to brake arrived to this speed, the next traffic light was coming. 330ci when you look its P.W.R, the Celica is kinda good at this game. A 330ci is a heavy car, with 1535+ almost 1600 kg, while a Celica is only between 1150 to 1215 kg.

2.7 V6 Hyundai Coupe is, IMHO, the better purchase, if you can find one that isn't rusted through. More space, better driving position, nice low-end torque, great sound if you get yourself a decent catback kit. If you're comparing between the 2.0 Coupe and the Celica and can handle the Celica's more cramped cabin, get the Celica. Higher-revving engine, arguably better cornering, better sound. ...unless you're looking to turbocharge, then the 2.0 Coupe is still the better choice.

I had a Hyundai 2.0 for a whole weekend from the dealership when they first came out, just opening and closing the door put me off, the interior looked the part but used the same plastic as Airfix, but most of all, the actual drive of the car was (and still remains) the most disappointing event of my entire life. It was like putting your foot down in a 1.3 Capri. I have always been stunned by how good the reviews were of it at the time. The only other time I had this feeling was when I drove another one (owned by a friend) a couple of years later.

This is hands down the worst review I've ever seen. LOL! I have a 2003 Tib GT and once you open up the exhaust and air intake, it's a whole different animal. So far, All I've done is the big three mods and out some coil overs under it. I can feel every single bump in the road, but that what you want because I can take 25 mph corners well over 50 mph and not ever move in the seat. It handles like it's on rails. Bottom end could be a little better, but mid and high range is wild. She loves high rpms. It won't be long and I'll have a 90 ci super charger on it, larger injectors, and an AEM piggyback. I got all of the parts and all I need is the time to put them in. I got lucky and found another Tib from a guy having a mid life crisis that bought a rusted out one that was totally junk, but he bought everything for it, including a bigger fuel pump. He had about $4000 worth of aftermarket parts and I got it from him for $2000. Literally brand new everything, including headers and exhaust, three intake manifolds, and two extra motors and 6-speed trannies. My car is pretty wild as it is, but in a few weeks, if I get the time off of work, my car will jam. I'm happy as hell with my Tib because it's a blast to drive and sounds awesome. Never drove a Celica, though, but I bet they are a fun drive, too. The back up beeper would be the first thing to go, though. That's gay as hell.

Fuel efficient, fast enough to have fun, confortable, reliable. Even the gearbox was set up for this demanding specifications, between fuel efficiency and performance.
