@@tucosalamanca5194 With the Tsport version which has the 2ZZ-GE engine? Nothing readily comes to mind other than the fact that the suspension is very stiff. It is a sports car after all. The regular Celica's with the 1ZZ-FE engine have an oil consumption issue that was fixed after 2003 I believe. So if you're out to buy one with that engine, be sure to check if it has been revised or replaced.

@@OverlordMD thanks for the advice, not sure what the engine is alls I know is its tsport vvtli 190 , its an 04 though which is worrying, currently have a Ford focus 06 reg that's had nothing but problems since I bought it, suspension, wish bones, alternator, numerous bushes and bearings its just been a money sponge. Hoping Toyotas are more robust than fords.

Adjust it for inflation and it’s more expensive than what the GT86 is. It’s from an era where people had more money to spend on cars. Everyone’s going for turbo cars

The correct 0-60 time is about 6.5... 7.5 is for the gt. The 140 hp one. I know, because I own one, and can get there that fast lol surely to God 40-50 hp results in more than a .1 second drop in 60 times.

There have been bone stock US-spec 2000 MY Celica GT-S's in the 5.99s... hard to believe, I know.. but a tiny, lightweight professional driver and a decent set of summer UHP tires make all the difference in the world!

Owned both the 140 and 190. And dnt get me wrong over 6,000 plus rpm the 190 is a diffrent beast! And rather moreish. But! You put side to side and race to 60 ...it wll be around 7 seconds for both...trust me ive had 3 of them

The stock tune on the 2ZZ in the Celica vs say the 2ZZ in the Lotus (ignoring the S/C ofc) is extremely "de-tuned' so's that when you would hit lift at 6250, you would feel it more. So effectively, down low, the 2ZZ isnt just a 1ZZ with lift, its actually worse without it (on STOCK tune). Stupid reason i know, it was all about how Toyota's and Yamaha's take on "v-tec" "feels", so they made it shit so you would feel the increase more Yes, I own one

Its not "distinctive", Its ugly.... and I love it. I bought this car ('01 model Made in Japan) with 110k miles on it and 30k miles later I have had no issues except for the minor oil eating that most cars of this era have and general wear and tear. My next car will be a facelift mk7 Celica for sure (facelift doesn't eat oil apparently).

the delusions in this one are strong.. Sorry to burst your bubble but you're comparing a track star to a body builder that tried his whole life to be a sprinter.. The only thing these 2 cars have in common is being fwd... Celica: NA 4 cylinder, 1.8l with 190 hp weighing in at 2.5k.. Not to mention you can actually get a 6 spd manual and take turns with speed. Buick riviera: Forced induction by supercharger, 6 cylinders. 3.8l displacement (more than double the displacement of the celica) and only putting out 240hp... With being nearly 4000 pounds... No wonder they didn't sell well

On top of that you're stuck with a 4 spd auto... Knowing how gm engineered their cars in the 80s-90's...I wouldn't accept a mint condition looking riviera if it was given to me for free. Guarenteed money pit in my biased opinion.
