As you mentioned, the Celica is more a comparison to the Escort Cossie, that would have been a fairer match up. They did do a “limited” version of the GT-FOUR. It was the GT-FOUR WRC Edition. Different manifold for anti-lag and a few others. Didn’t make it any quicker, just a homologation thing. To be fair, if the Celica had another 70bhp, it would be a different animal. The handling is capable of so much more power. Not to mention the interior is far superior. I was always put off the Scoobys and Evos because of the shabby interior.

There’s also a 5SGTE that you could built using the GT4’s head and internals and a 5SFE block taking the displacement from 2.0 to 2.2 and defending on the build can make upwards of 1000hp if built correctly (most that I’ve seen make more along the lines of 500-700bhp).

One thing to consider: GT-Four debuted at the same time as Lancer EVO1. And that would be an interesting comparison.

Yeah the power was massively restricted due to restrictive intake and exhaust, plus only ran about half the boost than that evo I believe.

Turned to 18lbs of boost, 3" straight pipe, fmic, corrected air, and this 3rd gen 3S becomes a damn beast. I ran 21lbs of boost for a summer and it was a blast.

All rally cars are monsters that includes celica GT4 Mitsubishi Subaru and more. I own Celica GT4 homologation model WRC edition is the special editions only made for WRC rally track also for road use. Only homologation model are the spec editions and there are standard Celica GT4s built as well. Standard and special editions are slightly different. Shocks and suspensions are not the same standard GT4 and Homologation model WRC built differently also there is a water cool for the radiator squirts water to cool it down from overheating also has anti lag systems flames from the exhaust also heat shields are different. That’s the difference between standard GT4 and special homologation models WRC. I also own a Subaru WRX love them both Celica GT4 ST205 homologation WRC and Subaru WRX both are monsters. Do remember the 3SGTE ST205 was the best engine that’s Toyota has ever built along side with 2JZ engines. You can boost 3SGTE to 600 horsepower can still defeat a 1050 horsepower toyota Supra because that’s why 3SGTE engines just built for power an example who defeated the legendary SKYLINE GTR at the race track? Toyota Supra with Japan engine swapped with 3SGTE than dominated the legendary GTRs that’s because the power of 3SGTE is a killer can kill and kick a lot of asses that’s the truth. Anyways both cars are nice I love my JDM cars

All the WRC bits - antilag, etc are disabled, SuperStrut Suspension is no different, it's a myth thats built up over the years to make people with old WRC (Generally 1994 cars with a lot of miles) think they are worth 25K with confusion in the fact such in actual racing they ditched the Superstrut

@@Ballsack44 they are extremely reliable if they are left on stock boost/power, just like any other Toyota, 350hp is pushing the stock rods/ pistons that's generally accepted as the limit for stock bottom end. and then depends on how you drive you could get away with running 350hp indefinitely if you are easy on the car and have a really good tune
