asimplyfab.life/ So we rented the cheapest car in South Africa. We jump in the Toyota Agya, a premium little hatchback that delivers more than you expect. Our extended 3000 km drive takes in most of South Africa, including a number of roads teeming with potholes. A Renault Kwid makes a small cameo as a comparison.
This little hatchback (in fact a Daihatsu Ayla) is being discontinued in South Africa (replaced by a rebadged Suzuki Celerio), but offers great value with solid finishes and switchgear. The little triple vrooms away cheerily, not much in the way of power, but eager enough. Also the luggage capacity was surprisingly doable for two people. The styling is pleasing enough, just on the right side of funky, and despite a couple of quirks left a great all-round impression.
