False dilemma, one does not necesarily exclude the other, you can have drones AND you can have fireworks. Of course not exactly in the same spatial position at the same time, but you get the point.

@@Luniel11 Seattle has been doing that for New Year's Eve, I didn't see it the the Fourth of July. One of the great thing about the drones is that it can help with pacing as the drone sections tend to be a bit more relaxed.

Everything is always looked at as either or in this case you can definitely do both. Like drones as a opener while people are still making there way to the show and then end with a bang

A drone show with a few dozen drones is one thing, they can struggle to compete with a traditional fireworks, but once drone shows start having hundreds or thousands of drones, drone shows are super impressive. Not sure which is more double for city budgets, I haven't seen a comprehensive cost comparsion, but areas with fire risks should use drones.

My dad would go down to boomtown fireworks every year and come back with a car load.

Wonder what the cost difference is. I.e. a city buying a fleet of drones would be $X which they can use for other events, going to a vendor and renting a fleet for the July 4th display, versus how much it costs for fireworks.

Because of course this is happening. Let's stick it to the environment right? People won't learn and this is not a victory for anybody.

They are both different in many ways. At this point drones can’t hit hard like fireworks do. But maybe someday they will.

South Americans and North Americans love these stories!

Fireworks are terrible, for the environment, but nothing is like them. Fireworks have been a favorite of mine, for 55 years.🤗🤗🤗

I don't feel the question should be a comparison on whether drones are better than fireworks. I think you could combine both the use of drones and fireworks to create a new kind of celebration. I'm surprised that these "experts" don't think of this before me. I don't care about neither. Both are way too expensive to enjoy. I remember back when fireworks used to be cheap,unless you wanted the strong stuff that could blow up a shed,now I can't even buy much with $20. I have to spend on average $200 just to buy a box of cheap fireworks that hardly do anything except whistle loudly for 3 seconds.

I agree. Also, drone manufacturers in the likes of Sky Elements took advantage of the wildfires that occurred two years ago to aggressively start a marketing campaign across the USA and Canada for the Summer holidays. Many cities were sold with the silly idea of replacing fireworks with effortless RC planes mounting LEDs that will eventually grow old sooner than fireworks. If anyone believes drones are better than fireworks, I assume they have never seen a fireworks show done by the Japanese or the Maltese.
